After the moment when the phantoms vanished and the city began to crack and dissolve before his eyes, Kazuya felt something indescribable. It was as though his mind had completely shattered, yet at the same time, he had become more aware than ever before. The truth that had been circling him all along was slowly revealing itself, like a faint light creeping through an endless darkness. He began to feel that what had happened wasn't an end but the start of another transformation. Was this the liberation he had always sought? Or was there another price he had yet to pay?
He stood still as the city around him gradually dissolved, as though time itself had come to a halt. The sounds faded into nothingness, and the universe seemed to return to its original silence.
But amidst this silence, Kazuya felt something else—something missing.
The shadows that had filled the space around him were gone, but a fragment of those shadows remained with him. A deep part of his heart still breathed in the darkness. It was the part he had always feared confronting, but now it was inescapable.
"Why can't I leave?" Kazuya whispered, clenching his fists in an attempt to grasp onto something tangible. He felt as though the space he stood in had become hazier, as if everything around him was spinning in a closed loop, trapping him in a single point in time.
Suddenly, the image appeared again—his past. He saw himself in the old alley, in the moment when he had chosen the path that led him to this fate. He watched himself as if observing a stranger. He saw himself making a decision to sacrifice, but this time, he noticed something else, something he hadn't seen before.
"I thought I was seeking salvation," Kazuya muttered, his voice heavy with pain. "But I was only looking for an escape."
From behind the vision, another voice emerged—a voice he had never heard before, but one that felt as though it had come from the depths of time itself.
"You were searching for something that doesn't exist. You were searching for the void," the voice said, invisible yet carrying an immense power.
"You cannot run from yourself," the voice continued, the words lodging themselves deep into his mind. "You cannot escape the truth that you are part of this void."
But as Kazuya confronted these words, the shadows began to creep back, this time more quietly. They were no longer terrifying; instead, they felt symbolic, as though they represented the memories he had lived through.
"If this void is part of me, if I am a part of it, must I surrender to it?" Kazuya murmured to himself, feeling a growing tension in his chest. "Am I destined to remain within this emptiness forever?"
The voice answered, this time with more clarity and firmness:
"The void is not the end, Kazuya. It is the beginning."
Kazuya felt as if time itself had shifted, as though something new was entering his mind. The void he had been running from all this time was not a conclusion but a starting point.
"A beginning of what?" he asked, his voice laced with uncertainty.
"A beginning to rebuild what you have destroyed," the voice replied. The shadows around him began to fall like rain, but instead of consuming the light, the light began to shine through them.
The shadows represented the past, while the light symbolized the future. Kazuya now realized that he had to embrace the future with full acceptance and confront everything he had taken in the past. Running away was not the answer; reconciliation with himself was the only path forward.
"Can I truly fix everything?" he asked himself, clenching his fists once more. This time, however, he felt strength in his hands—a strength that hadn't been there before. He felt as though the void that had confined him was now opening a door to something new.
In a single moment, the city began to change. The shadows didn't disappear entirely but instead transformed into new shapes, while a beam of light pierced through them, as if hope was breaking into his darkened world.
"If I am part of this void, then I am also part of the change," Kazuya said with a steady voice as he watched the transformation unfolding around him. "The void isn't the end; it's just a stage."
Suddenly, Kazuya felt something else—a pain, but not the kind of pain that overwhelmed him. This pain felt like growth. He sensed something new beginning to take root within his heart. It was the ache of transformation, the shift from darkness to light, from void to existence.
