Violet stirred slowly, she could feel the soft morning light on her bare chest. She didn't dare open her eyes, not yet, not while she was still in the blissfully unaware state she had grown to love over the past few months.
She doesn't know whose bed she's in, last night is slowly coming back to her and Violet can't hold back her smile. She hasn't smiled like this since Evan.
As the world slowly comes back to her, she can feel a hand on her stomach...Lizzie's hand.
As if now that she knows that it's Lizzie laying next to her, only now it's safe to. Violet opens her eyes and is met with a familiar ceiling.
She's at Lizzie's. They must have gone to Buckley bar which is a mere 2 miles from Lizzie's apartment rather than their bar near Violet's apartment - Joanne's.
They both often talk about how they wish they could go to Molly's and drink with their friends.... But they both know that drinking at Molly's is a slippery slope now that they're dating.
They had realised how hard it was 3 days after they first slept together. Everyone had been enjoying some post-shift drinks after a particularly bad shift, and as per usual, Lizzie and Violet were sat with Darren & Stella chatting about the upcoming Bears game. At some point, neither of them noticed or knew now it happened, but Lizzie's hand ended up on Violet's thigh.
Violet hadn't even noticed until Lizzie took her hand away to take a sip of her drink, and it had taken everything in Violet not to whine at the loss of contact.
Violet was different with Lizzie, not just because she was a woman, but Violet behaved in a way she had never behaved before, she was softer than she was with Flynn, more confident than she was with Evan, more desperate than she was with Sam, with Lizzie, Violet is better (and kinkier) than she has ever been.
But of course, like every relationship she's had since Evan...she is absolutely terrified of loosing her.
It actually shows a lot, the way Violet is extra touchy now, or how she constantly wants to see Lizzie's face when they're having sex.
Violet mostly manages to play it off as her just wanting to see Lizzie when she cums, but some stuff is getting harder and harder to just "play off".
Lizzie knows about Evan, she's known langer then they've been dating, but Violet has never gone into detail about now his death effected her mentally.
Just as Violet turns to face her girlfriend - God she's still trying to wrap her head around the whole "girlfriend" concept - Lizzie opens her eyes & they immediately meet Violet's.
"Morning beautiful" Lizzie smiles as she props herself up on her elbow.
"Morning Liz." Violet had grown accustomed to calling Lizzie that nickname as much as possible because it's her favourite nickname for the blonde girl.
"I don't want to go to work today." Lizzie murmurs sleepily.
"I know baby, but we have to" Violet chuckles.
"Can we not just take like a year of furlough and stay here forever?"
Violet just smiles.
"Neither of us have a years worth of furlough, as much as I love the idea of a full year with you and no interruptions, we have lives to save."
Lizzie shuffles into Violet's arms and Violet holds her tight.
They stay like that for maybe 5 or so minutes, but it feels both shorter and longer than 5 minutes.
Eventually, they know they need to get out of bed, so with one final kiss, they slowly get out of bed.
