Old Wounds

Tyara's mom walks into her room to hasten her up because she was almost late for school, she stomps her right foot, to get Tyara's attention, and folds her goodness too express her displeasure."Tyara Jade Anderson! What are you still doing?! Do I have to drag you kicking and screeming for you to get to school early, don't be selfish, your cousins are in the car waiting" she yells, Tyara seems indifferent about her mom's displeasure as she rolls her eyes "Relax mo, I'm trying to line my eyes, I'll lay my edges and be out in a jiff" her mom walks out as this was the normal routine for both of them.
Tyara sprays some setting spray on her face lightly,puts on a generous amount of deodorant,grabs her bag and walks out,she quickly rushes back in, grabs her make up box and a bag of freshly ironed clothes.
She walks down the stairs slowly with her hands touching the rail slightly almost as if she was trying to impress someone which was weird because everyone was already out, work of fame was quickly interrupted by her mom's continuous honking "ugh" she exclaims,"mom I already told you,I'm coming!" She steps out and locks the door but stops for a second to do a drip check,she pulls the sides of her baggy jeans flapping them, stares at her sneakers,adjusts her necklace and whispers to herself "looking steezy"Before she could say anything else,her mom yells her name "Tyara!!" And she quickly runs to the car.
Her mom starts the car, murmuring to herself and stops for a second to glance at Tyara's outfit,she looks at Tyara with a puzzled face"Don't you think that top is a lil too much?" She asked,Tyara kisses her teeth "Mom everything is a lil bit too much to you" her mom ignores the statement " You know what I'm gonna pretend I didn't see you wear that 'spaghetti top'" she starts  driving. Tyara picks up her phone"You're exaggerating mom, it's not like I'm wearing it all through the day, besides I've got my jean jacket in the back in case of Principal Mabel.
Mrs Anderson dropped Tyara and her cousins, Tyara's cousins step out of the the car and shut the door saying "Love you Auntie Bee" Tyara grabs her stuff, picks her jacket from the back, shuts the door and turns to follow her cousins but her mom stops her in her tracks "Tyara, aren't you gonna say love you?"Tyara continues walking,"You know I love you mom". Her mom sighs and drives off. Tyara could see from the corner of her eyes that her mom was driving off so she turned slightly to observe her,as she walks in through the hallway she puts on her ear pods, connects it to her phone and starts listening to 'Another day in Paradise', she sights the principal and quickly puts on her jacket. She starts walking as fast as her baggy jeans would let her, "Miss Tyara" Principal Mabel called out to her, "Ohh shit" she whispers, she turns to look at her "Principal Mabel, pleasant to see you this morning,I hope all is well?" She says with all the enthusiasm she can muster, Miss Mabel takes a more relaxed stance which usually spells out trouble for the students,Tyara noticed her change in posture and her heart starts to race, she takes a deep breath and maintains the joyful look on her face "You've been turning up late to school lately,which will not be tolerated from a star student like you,you've never been to detention before, so if you don't want to make a dent in your perfect record you better work on your punctuality..." Tyara quickly responds "I promise to work on that ma'am" Her principal responds," I'm not done talking", Tyara's anxiety level increases,she tightens her grip on her bags almost breaking her artificial acrylic nails. Miss Mabel continued "I saw you the other day in the hallway with your with your entourage..... and I don't like the way you spoke to that poor girl and I'm well aware that it's been happening for quite some time now, All because she's different from you doesn't give you the right to oppress her,I'll be watching you.....if you continue on this path you can forget about the letter of recommendation to Harvard." Tyara's eyes lit up "But Principal Mabel-" Miss Mabel interrupts her "If you have anything to say to me,I'll be in my office,but don't come now because you have class in-" she glares at her watch "-in two minutes, now hurry you'll be late for algebra."

Tyara's phone alarm goes off,she gets up immediately and grabs her bags,"Mrs Yesheme, I've gotta use my media pass" she holds up her card. Her teacher nods "Okay Tyara you can leave" she turned off her alarm and goes live when IG, "Hey guys, for the for those online, I'll be heading to the media room, make sure you tune in for todays Falcon news session, Bye my pookies!" she ends the live. She walks in on Tyler and Joseph setting of the green screens. She get greets them and walks into the changing room, she changes into a high-waist short skirts with beads to match the  color, a jacket that matches the skirt and a white lace leggings to go with it, she walks out of the room striking a pose to get the attention of the only two boys and the room Tyler her boyfriend and Joseph the weird freak as some would call him, he wasn't just a weird freak to some because of his glasses which made his eyes appear smaller but because of his vitiligo which affected his left eye, some parts of his neck and his right hand, actually those were the visible parts. "Do I look good Mr Armstrong?" A popular phrase from a movie,she always says it to them. Surprisingly only Tyler responds saying "You look drop dead gorgeous babe" she glares at Joseph hoping to get response, but he wasn't looking at her,he was still busy trying to set up. She looked dissatisfied "Joseph! She shouted, he still couldn't hear her, she noticed that he had his earpods on and she yanks'em off,And when she does so,she could hear that he was listening to 'All night long', He immediately turns thinking it was Tyler then his eyes lit up seeing it was Tyara "Oh you're here", "Of course" she says striking the same pose "Do I look good Mr Armstrong?" He stares for a second and walks in the changing room, looking for something, He grabs a modern leather newsboy cap and hands it to her,she puts it on and he says "Ask again" she does as he says "Do I look good Mr Armstrong?" He smirks and says "As always" she giggled and from her gestures you could tell that she prefers his opinion to that of Tyler.
She sits down and places her bag on the desk in front of her, Tyler sets up the lights perfectly and walks into his own station, Joseph goes to stand behind the camera and they were set for the 'Terrific Tuesday live broadcast', they were waiting for the bell to go off, Tyara grabs her phone and goes live again, "Hey guys, it's almost time, I just wanted to announce that I'll be giving invitations right now to the first two people who can guess my favorite movie!, I'll be announcing the winners right after today's Falcon news live broadcast,Bye my pookies, Tyara loves ya!". Joseph rolls his eyes and just as he does so, the bell rings, They all adjust their postures and Joseph yells. "We go live in 3....2...1"
"Hey guys! It's me your girl, Tyara with a Y and this  The Terrific Tuesday session of your Falcon News Live broadcast, like we agreed yesterday, I'll be answering all your anonymous questions about my party!! So let's get to it,the  first question; "Hey Tyara! What's the theme for your party?" Tyara sighs"I already said this before, it's a freak party! So dress up as your freakiest selves and come on to my part, only if you're invited tho..." She waited for the next question to appear on the screen,"Okay... the second question is; ' Hey Queen Tyara, would you like a new member in your clique? Plus I heard Tyler is totally gonna ask you to go to the prom with him during your Pre-prom freak party 👀'... Ugh guys I said only questions about the party please!...." She says rolling her eyes,"... anyways moving on to the next question; ' Hey Tyara, will you be announcing King & Queen of the freaks at your party?'..Well let's wait and find out Thursday night okay? Now to the next question; 'Hey Tyara, I know this isn't about your party, and I don't mean to be a bother, but this is about you....' She stares at the camera acting puzzled '... I'm worried about you, you're not who you used to be,... you've been putting up a front ever since Ciara died .... and I know she wouldn't be happy either-'" she stops reading,her face goes cold as her heart drops, Joseph noticed and made it seem like there was a glitch then he turns the camera to Tyler and gives him a signal to start taking his part, " Now that the questions are over, let's take things from the Principal's desk...." She runs into the changing room and slams the door,She hasn't shown this side of her since her sister died, Joseph walks in and finds her crying on the floor,she pulls her skirt in an effort to cover her thighs. "Tyara....I'm so sorry.." he puts his arms around her and she cries even more.." You'll be fine, you'll be alright" he says but she continues to cry, so he puts his other hand on her back in an effort to console her, she relaxes her head on his shoulder "please stop crying, I'm so sorry, I should have read the question first....I shouldn't have aired it live...you'll be fine...I'll help you speak to Miss Mabel so you can go ho-" she interrupts him " Don't... just don't mind...I know Ciara's gone, why do you have to remind me,it haunts me everyday even in my dreams, you think it's easy for me? I have to live with the fear of what if... yeah I'm over the age that she was when she died but I can't just stop wo-" she paused cause she just realized how vulnerable she's being, which is unusual for her, she pushes him and cleans her tears "What are you doing you weirdo?! She says, "I was just-" he tried to defend himself but she interrupts saying" Just leave... leave me alone! Go continue the live.... and don't let anyone in here!!" She yells at him, he didn't try to argue, he just walked out, closing the door behind him.
After the live broadcast, Tyler wanted to go into the changing room to meet Tyara but Joseph said, " She told me not to let anyone in" Tyler looked disgusted by what Joseph said, he pushed him  "I'm not just anyone you idiot, I'm her boyfriend so scram!" Tyler opens the door and Tyara tells him to get out, he tries to talk his way in but she insisted that she didn't want to see anyone so he storms out and heads to class.
Joseph decided to knock the door "It's time for chemistry Ty" she didn't respond, but he didn't think it was a good idea to leave her there so he sat and took a nap on her desk. After a while, when the closing bell rang and she was sure that most of the students were out, she got up, she saw that her makeup was ruined so, she fixed it up and walked out of the room just to see Joseph sleeping, she didn't wake him up, she just left. On her way home, she couldn't help but think of what happened,it all felt so unreal from the anonymous message to all that Joseph said, she couldn't quite rap her head around it, and it kept playing on repeat in her head, memories with her old pals and memories with her sister, the times she spent In the Hospital with Ciara and the Funeral...she could remember it all like it was yesterday...it was like an old wound that still remained fresh after years...
