Nayeon didn't do anything to pressure Jeongyeon and it seemed like they were getting closer again. I mean, Nayeon told Jihyo that she would leave Jeongyeon alone and right then Jeongyeon replied with "I can give it a try". It almost seemed like fate. On her birthday, Jeongyeon sent a photo of the gift Nayeon had given her, showing her that she had it with her. The eldest smiled. Maybe what she had written in her song wasn't true. Maybe they would continue texting each other... And Jeongyeon did everything to continue the conversation, she even started replying right away.
Yet, one day, after only a week since she had told her that she still had feelings for Nayeon... She told her that she had no feelings, that there was zero chance for them. Nayeon didn't say anything about it at first, but then something inside her started moving: it was the gears of her brain. A week ago she told her that she still had feelings for her and then they got closer again and it disappeared? It was weird. If you like someone, shouldn't the feeling resurface with their closeness? Maybe Jeongyeon was just afraid of suffering. No, she said that wasn't the case. She just didn't feel anything. Overnight? That's right.
Nayeon could accept that she didn't feel anything for her, but not after a week. And not after telling her "I love you", something so big, so strong. Then maybe she didn't mean it. Yet Jeongyeon claimed that she really meant it when she said it. But how was that possible? If it was as strong as she said, it would never have disappeared in such a short time. Where was the "it will take me years to forget you"? She had even managed to move on when Nayeon went to her city. She said she had only been sad for the first two days.
And not only did she have no feelings for her, she also sent her a screenshot of the chat with her best friend where she was talking about the new girl she liked. And she said other stuff she said with her new crush. Not the cutest thing to do after you said to the girl who still likes you that you don't like her anymore. Nayeon could accept that Jeongyeon had started to like someone else, but that her feelings for her had disappeared in such a short time? No. And she even tried to justify the youngest, saying that maybe what she had felt for her wasn't as strong as she thought but she had only confused a great affection with what she had passed off as love.
Nayeon had humiliated herself, she had apologized a hundred times, but maybe it hadn't been so wrong to walk away. Then she put two and two together... Jeongyeon's past... Those red flags that she had decided to ignore... (That I can't share but trust me). They were the confirmation of her suspicions: Jeongyeon had never really liked her, maybe the girl hadn't even realized it. The youngest wanted them to remain friends but for Nayeon it wasn't possible.
I wish Nayeon to heal in a week. Wait, what Nayeon feels is real, it won't be that easy for her. And to make matters worse, it made her relationship anxiety worse and confirmed one thing: no one could like her.
Based on a true story that I can't share too many details about :)
