Chapter one
Another dull day at work for Ashleigh. Her mission, to just get through it as quickly and as quietly as possible. Late again. The huge entrance, it's long polished marbled corridors, the sound of her heels echoing as she rushed to get to the lift.
Bang!
"Sorry" she winced, putting a strand of her brown locks behind her ear.
"Watch where you're going" coffee spilling onto the floor, the tall slim man's eyes widening as his fingers burn.
Ashleigh felt a cold pair of eyes staring at her not knowing who it is, slowly she turn around to see and there he was the guy from the bar last night. I didn't think I would see him again, she thought. Her heart started beating rapidly as he kept staring, it felt as though she was in one of those love at first site movies but she couldn't help but stare back. The awkwardness between them grew she pressed the elevator button numerous times in hope of saving herself in the awkward situation. The relief on her face as she inhaled deep breaths trying compose herself. The elevator stopped trying to rush to my desk before the boss noticed that she wasn't there. A small creek and the door slowly open and the first foot step walks out.
She sit at down and look up, there he was walking towards her again as she already had seen, he tall slim figure his skin fairly tanned; his eyes dark brown like autumn leaves. Ashleigh could feel her pulse beating rapidly she closed her eyes and inhale his clone for a split second it felt as though she had been lifted.
"Hello "a deep seductive voice said her thoughts were yet again interrupted.
"Oh....hi" nervously she said looking down at her desk trying to avoid eye contact
"Ashleigh right? It's me Leo the guy from the bar last night do you remember?" he said smiling in delight.
"Oh...hello putting a strand of her brown locks behind her ears she said "what are the odd that I see I bump in to you today such a small world "she said
He laughed and said "Well I was wondering if you would want to go out and have a drink with me. Ifit's okay with you?"He asked scratching the back of his head
Ashleigh paused and deeply thought of what she would say was 'I don't know' she said putting her strand of brown locks behind her ears the shyness even grew as Ashleigh was speaking
He pulled out a pen from his 500 dollar Armani suite and wrote his number down on the paper Ashleigh was holding when he was done he said in a soft tone 'if you decide call me sometime' and walked towards the elevator.
So many thought rushing through her head, did he really ask me out on a date? it felt surreal, she felt like Carrie from Sex and the City, she couldn't wait any longer. What was she going to wear she said to herself? But what if she had gotten mixed up, he didn't want to go out with her. It didn't take long for Ashleigh to convince herself that it was all another misunderstanding on her part. He was way out of her league, the matter was closed.
Saturday night, a few weeks later Ashleigh still hadn't done anything about the drink, the more the weeks had past the more she wanted to see him but she couldn't muster the courage. She had just finished her second glass of wine and was looking for her lipstick in her handbag when she came across the card with his number on. Before she new what she was doing she'd dialled the number.
'Hello' his deep voice spoke
'Hi it's Ashleigh from the bar? She said nervously thinking of what to say after
'Ohh hey how are you?'
'I'm fine thank you'. A smile broke across her face the confidence a glass of wine and over the first words, she decides to tell him that she would like to go on that drink with him. He then asked if I was free to go out tonight. Ashleigh paused and thought to herself what she was doing should but without any thought she agreed to see him that night.
Getting dressed was a lot trickier than she imagined all these things she used to take for granted, like putting on an outfit rushing out the door without worrying what she looked like it was so much more difficult now. Trying to find the perfect dress and the right shoes, trying to go for that elegant, sophisticated look but a little sexy at the same time without looking too young or too trashy, too many thoughts overloaded her brain.
Dressed and ready to go she looked in the mirror one more time fixing her hair adding a little bit of lipstick. She set out the door until she paused and look down at her hand, she hesitated, and then she took her wedding ring off and put it in her purse.
Before firmly closing the door, "I'll be back by 11 honey" she shouted, and treaded away from the suffocating house which she could not stand any longer.
