"And that's an early end for the championship leader, Charles Leclerc is out of the race!" the voice of the moderator echoed over the speakers.

"No, Charles!" Luka shouted and pointed at the big screen where the red car was seen, the reply of him crashing into the barriers.

It looked like a break failure, but maybe also he made a mistake, I wasn't sure. To be honest I was sure, I knew exactly that he wouldn't make such easy mistakes. Charles was really one of the best drivers I had ever battled against.

"Is he okay?" Lio asked and climbed onto my lap as I was sitting on that sofa on the balcony again.

"He's fine sweetie, look." I said and pointed at the screen, also feeling relieved as I saw the Monegasque walking over to the medical car.

"Is he coming back no? Can we go and see him?" Luka beamed and already wanted to leave the balcony from where we had a great view over the start and finish line straight.

"Honey, the race isn't even over, don't you wanna watch that?" I asked, but the boy only shook his head.

"He's not racing anymore so there is no one we can cheer for." the boy pouted and I felt a warmth inside at his words.

They really loved Charles, they liked him like they had known him for many years even though they only met him a few weeks back. It was crazy, but I was fine with it as I also liked the Monegasque.

Unfortunately in a way Luka would never approve, but still, I couldn't be more happy. However he had still a girlfriend, he had still told me that he kissed my cheek because of her, he still left this morning without a text or message.

But, he still had cuddled with me last night, had asked how my dinner went.

"He's very busy now, we can't see him." I said again as Luka still wanted to leave, "Also Carlos is still racing, and Daniel."

The Aussie had of course asked me this morning what happened last night and I quickly told him, earning an eyebrow wiggle and some comments from him. But I knew him quite well so I knew he was just making fun of me, nothing serious.

Still he had told me that I should talk to Charles, to maybe even ask him what that was between us, but damn, I would never do that. Straight forward Max was in the past, this version of me didn't exist anymore.

I now had the responsibility for two young kids, I couldn't walk around with the 'I-don't-give-a-fuck' mentality, that simply wasn't working.

"Carlos is funny and the other guy in your car is also nice, but I wanna go and see Charles and ask him if he's okay." Luka still said and even put his arms on his hips, looking at me.

"How about we send him a text message and ask if he's okay?" I slowly suggested as I really had no other idea.

Charles surely was busy and also had his girlfriend around, who would surely calm him down and talk to him as he would probably be very frustrated with that result.

"Yes, message!" Lio babbled on my lap, clapping his hands.

As also Luka agreed and took a seat on the sofa, I pulled my phone out and opened Charles's and my chat.

We just wanted to check in on you, are you okay?

I showed the text to Luka and he nodded with an approving smile so I hit the send button before putting the phone away.

"He's busy now so he will text back later, how about we watch the race now." I suggested then and the older boy happily jumped from the couch, running over to the glass railing again, looking down where the cars passed by.
