Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be immortal? Well, I can tell you, it's exactly how many people believe it would be. Hi, I'm Charlotte Dike, and here's the story of how I sort of saved the world.
I'm going to start from the beginning.
You see, I have two unique parents. One is responsible for overseeing who can have kids, who will get a soul mate, and who will have a mental illness. Her name is Life. She is my mom. Yeah, that's unique allright. The other parent, my father, oversees who dies. You could probably guess who he is.
Yep, he's Death.
Strange couple, right? Well, they thought so too.
At the beginning of time, they never got along along, they would argue, wage wars, and even make people choose sides. Eventually they got so fed up they couldn't even talk to each other. This is what created the barrier of life and death. No afterlife, no anything.
Then, around Shakespearean times, one thing brought them together, Love. No, not love, Love, the actual being, Love. You see, after that whole Romeo and Juliet thing, Love found that if you could spend a lifetime together, why not spend eternity together?
Love got a little mischievous and told Death (my father) his plan of an afterlife. Death agreed and created an afterlife for those who were kind, loving, and caring during their time on earth.
Life was outraged that Death would create something that would undermine her. She stormed down to Death and demanded an explanation. He explained that the afterlife was only for those who were kind during their actual life.
Life was surprised to hear this, she always thought that Death was dark and reckless, causing nothing but pain and grief. After that, They started talking and found out how, despite all their differences, there were some similarities between the two of them.
After many years of friendship, they fell in love and had me. But love grows old, so my parents became distant from each other, and decided it was best just to remain friends, so I grew up between the two households. Throughout the whole thing, I was almost a normal child, except for the fact that I'm immortal. Now, just because I'm immortal, that doesn't mean that I'm indestructible. I've broken a few bones in my sixteen years. What? Were you expecting me to be, like, one hundred and six? I'm not a vampire!
