You sit at the dining room table with your earphones on trying to eat your food while Zane fights with Garroth over the last waffle, Vlyads in his own world stareing out the window, Dad's on the phone with a buyer and Mom is cleaning the kitchen. I look at everyone around me, suck my teeth, push my barely touched food away and go upstairs. I walk into my room lock the door behind me and drop myself onto my bed.
"This family is a fucking mess" I say into my pillow and lay there. As much as you love your brothers and mom, this family can just be too much sometimes. "We got the popular rich boy softball captain dream boat Garroth" I say sarcastically." Oh and there's the emo disappointment middle child Zane. And there's the bastard twins Vlyad and Rowen. Did you know the sister is batshit crazy?" Again my voice dripping in sarcasm. It's funny that's probably something people would say.
I roll onto my back and stare at the ceiling. The little glow stars from my childhood and the dangling paper dragons my mom made. I look over the whole room and think about all the good times I had. I hear a knock from my door "Hey its Vlyad..." I tell him to come in as I fix my sweater. He walks in and sits on my bed."You okay? One second you were at the table and then the next you were gone." He asks worryingly. I look out at my feet for a few seconds "yeah just... got anxious from all the noise" I reply softly. We sit in awkward silence for a bit until he speaks up.
"So, you excited for your first day of high school tomorrow?" I groan "I'm just upset I have to deal with Garroth and Zane alone..." Vlyad Zane and I had all applied to O'Khasis Prep as our first option and Pheniox Drop High was Second. Vlyad got into O'Khasis Prep and Zane and I got into Pheniox Drop High. We both can't really stand being around Garroth because all he does is push us to do things we don't want to do or get defensive playing victim. When you mix Zane and Garroth together alot of past drama gets brought up like Garroth blinding Zane in one eye after throwing a snowball at him with a rock in it.
"Hey its okay you only have to deal with them for a few hours every day." He says trying to cheer me up. "That makes it worse Vlyad I have to live with them too. WE have to live with them" sometimes it feels like I'm the one In this family who is somewhat sane next to Zane. Vlyads face goes red in embarrassment "sorry I don't see them like that often so I kinda forget" I forgot that Zane doesn't want anything to do with Vlyad. You apologize to him and explain that you also forgot and things turn out okay I guess. My have freaked out brother a bit but oh well.
He ends up leaving your room and I lay on my bed thinking about how tomorrow is my first day of high school. Maybe it's like my books? Drama filled love stories. Rumors being spread causing the people that have feelings you questioning everything they thought. OR maybe a crazy exchange student that becomes obsessed with the mentor that helped him around on his first day and tries to force her to love him? I think for a moment. "Nah that's stupid that would never happen" I think out loud for a moment before going back downstairs.
