Chapter 6
Ellie
I wake up to find Reece's arms and legs draped over me, taking up the whole damn bed. I untangle my limbs from his and shove him so forcefully he actually falls off the bed. "can you not" he croaks out in his morning voice, "I told you not too cross the line or there would be consequences" I'm still shocked I was able to actually push him off the bed, I'm stronger that I thought. I'm just grateful the resort we are staying in is large enough that I probably won't have to see his stupid face all day.
Thank the lord.
For the outfit of the day, I just put on my hot pink bikini on and a pair of white linen shorts. I throw my hair in the messiest bun throw on my sunglasses and flip flops, then I am out the door, with Reece, who will not leave my side. But how oh so convenient was it that I happened to accidently leave my beach bag in our little villa. The resort we are staying in was so cool, it had a built-in waterpark and all the rooms where like little cabins, it was so cute and aesthetic. And don't get me started on the pools, there was at least 1 swim up pool bar in every single one, there was like 5 by the way. And so many chairs to just lay out in and chill. It was the definition of paradise.
Once I got back to my room, I made sure I had all the necessities in my bag, including my book, towel, drink bottle and just other random bits and bobs. I spent the walk back too family breakfast just taking it all in. breathing in the fresh salty air and listening to the soft hot breeze. I could feel the sun beaming down on my skin. It was definitely going to be a great day. "oh, look who finally decided to show up" my mom said rolling her eyes in a joking way. "sorry I forgot my bag" everyone just giggled. The whole breakfast was actually quite nice. I sat next to kylie catching up on all the latest gossip. Reece was at the other end of the table so that problem was out the window. Overall, I had a good time. But now it was time for my favourite part of the day. I spent a few minutes stalking out the best spot for my day of sitting, tanning, and reading in the sun. I finally found a great spot right next to the bar and close too bathrooms as well. Perfect. I sat down pulled off my shorts and got my little set up ready. The book I started reading was called Beach Read by Emily Henry. A little summer romances. Ugh could this day be going any more perfect.
I was really focused on my book, completely lost in the different world. When all of a sudden, a cold wet sting met my skin and my book. I put my book down with a huff and looked directly at the culprit for my soaking wet book. I should have known it would be Reece. "are you kidding that was brand new" "sorry but I wanted to start my holiday off with a splash" he said winking "pun very much intended" "no your actually not funny" "Ellie I think your earing fell on the ground" what I knelt down looking for it not seeing anything, I touched my ears just to make sure it wasn't there, when I remembered I didn't wear any today. All of a sudden, I was met with a cold large body of water. The fucked had pulled me in. "god Reece your such an idiot, was this necessary" "okay I'm actually sorry" "no you're not because there was no reason for you to do that" I was actually really annoyed, I just bought that book and it was a sopping wet mess. Ruined. That's just what he does, ruins everything. And to think I thought this was going to be a peaceful day. Instead of trying to salvage my tanning day, I went over to the bar and ordered some fries and decided I was going too dry an alcoholic drink since technically I could drink in Spain. I was 18. Just got the focus on the positives. So, I grabbed the menus and started scanning the menu, I settled on a Piña Colada, sounded pretty tropical. While I was waiting for my food and drink, I heard someone swim/splash their way over too me. "Ellie I'm actually genuinely sorry, I thought it would be funny" he looked at me with down turned lips and sad yes questioning eyes. I just sighed "Reece will you just leave me alone, I don't know what your sudden need to be attached to my side is, but it's getting old" he didn't even protest he actually walked away. I was shocked to be honest.
Apart from the minor setback id had earlier on in the day, it had been pretty good. I met a girl at the bar, about a year older than me. She was here with her family for the whole entire summer and was dying for some company from someone her own age. I also met a cute bartender with my new friend, her name was Delilah. We spent the rest of the day laughing, getting too know each other. And ordering many more drinks. To be honest by the time I made it to my room I was a little bit tipsy. I scanned my keycard, and it suddenly crossed my mind that I hadn't seen Reece since he quite literally rained on my parade. When I walked in, I saw two beds, thank god. And a gift bag on the one I presumed was mine since all my luggage was at the bottom of it. Curious I went over to the gift bag which had 'La Biblioteca de Babel' written in black on to. I'm guessing that's the store that the contents inside the bag was from. I reached my hand inside the bag pulling out a brand-new copy of my book I was reading, along with another book and a card that had a massive "SORRY" with a sad face scribbled on the envelope. I opened the envelope to find a card that said "I'm an ass" with a donkey looking thing. I smiled and started to read what was on the inside.
I'm sorry Ellie, I thought it would be a funny joke and I didn't think I would annoy you that much. I thought you would just laugh and get me back later. To make up for it I bought another copy of your book since I ruined the last one, along with another one that looked like it was something you would enjoy. Sorry again.
Reece x
He'd actually meant his apology. And I actually forgave him. You got to admit, it was kind of sweet. I looked at the book he thought I would like. A Summer Of Broken Rules by K.L. Walther. As if on cue he walked into the room. "you do have a heart Reece's pieces" I said waltzing over to him. "yeah, yeah don't get too used too it" he said smirking "I actually think it's one of your better phases" I said booping him on the nose and laughing. "Ellie, are you drunk?" he was full on smiling now. "no, I would never drink alcoholic beverages" he stared at me knowing it was total bullshit. "okay maybe just a tiny little bit, but you can't tell my parents" I put my hands over his mouth, you can never be too careful. "well since I still feel bad you can consider your secret safe with me" he said removing my hands from his face. "we should probably make it over too dinner before they think we might of actually murdered each other though" he giggled. "oh no Reece I can't go, they'll know, this is bad" he just continued laughing. "this is not a laughing matter" but somehow, I was laughing too. "you know what since I'm sooo nice, I'll make up and excuse for you and you can chug water and rest up here for the night" "Reece have I recently told you that you aren't actually a spawn of Satan" He just giggled passing me a bottle of water, and told me he would see me later. Maybe it will actually be different this summer. Maybe we could be friends. I mean we had a minor setback but that's long gone now. And he's more than made up for it. He really went out of his way just to buy me some silly books. Maybe the ice that was covering his heart the past 18 years has finally started defrosting in the Spanish sun. The ice on his brain too.
