𝐉ongwoo blinked at his reflection. The dark circles under his eyes told a story he didn’t want to hear. He shook his head, trying to rid himself of the lingering dread from the nightmare. The coldness of the bathroom tile seeped into his feet. He needed to shake it off. The vision of the basement, the blood, the voice—“Honey”—it all felt too real.

He splashed water on his face, but it didn’t wash away the fear. His mind raced. What if the dream meant something? What if it was a warning? Jongwoo leaned closer to the mirror, searching for answers in his own gaze. But all he found was a reflection that seemed to stare back, almost mocking him. He turned away, but something caught his eye. The cat, sitting silently, its fur bristling as if it sensed the turmoil within him.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” he muttered, half-joking, half-nervous. The cat didn’t flinch. Instead, it moved toward the door and paused, glancing back at him. Was it trying to tell him something? A chill ran down his spine. He hesitated, then followed.

The hallway was dark, shadows stretching like fingers toward him. As he walked, the air grew thick. An unease settled in his stomach. He reached the basement door, the one he had avoided since the last nightmare. A soft whisper echoed from behind it—was it his imagination? Or something more? He hesitated, heart pounding. The door creaked as he pushed it open, revealing the stairs leading down into the darkness.

He took a breath. “It’s just a basement,” he whispered Trying to forget about what happened in the past. But as he stepped down, the familiar voice echoed in his mind. “Honey…” What if it wasn’t just a nightmare? What if it was a call? The descent felt endless, the shadows closing in. He clutched the railing, a sense of dread building. What awaited him below? Was he ready to face whatever truth lay hidden in the dark? Soon jongwoo snapped out of his thought. Jongwoo felt the tension slip away as he realized it was just Luna, his cat, curled up in the corner. He had been worried about strange noises in the house, but the sight of her soft fur brought him comfort. Luna stretched and let out a soft meow, as if to reassure him that everything was fine. He smiled, feeling silly for worrying so much. It was just another evening with his beloved pet, and he cherished these quiet moments.

He discovered grapes and mini cheese squares for a late-night snack. He placed them on the counter and noticed his cat near his leg, kneading. Jongwoo chucked and turned and walked up to the cabinet to grab his cat a treat and he eventually came across his cat's favorite snack. He turned around and held it up in the air above the cat. The cat soon got on its two feet holding its paws in the air like a hungry dog waiting to be fed wishing for its owner to drop the treat in its mouth. Jongwoo laughed at the sight of his cat, who was now fully committed to the treat dance. The little feline, a ball of energy and enthusiasm, was hopping on its back legs. It was amusing how a simple snack could bring out such excitement. He felt a surge of affection for his cat. They had been through a lot together, and moments like this reminded him why he loved having the little creature around.
