Chapter IV: Freeing A Friend

That night, JD, Dan, and George arrived outside Z's hideout. "Alright lads, here's what we're going to do." JD said, "First we're going to charge in. Then you two are going to hold off the diesels while I go and rescue Rhys. I'm going to tie him up, put him in George, and then we're going to get the fuck out of here." "Right" The two said. The trio charged into the harbour. Dan saw Jonah in the moonlit sky and kept his charge going. JD jumped clear as Dan bumped The BR class 55. The diesel came off the line after smashing through a set of buffers. JD ran into the warehouse unnoticed by anyone. Randy and Andy rounded a bend from the piers. "Do you know what time it is, Andy?" The grey diesel asked his brother. "I do, Randy. It's Scrap O'clock!" The green and yellow diesel cackled. "Bring it on, you bastards!" Yelled Dan. The two diesels honked their horns before charging at The D&D Railway's number one and his brake van. JD was searching around the warehouse, it was like a maze. He soon stumbled upon a little glowing ball. "Come with me!" It echoed, "We haven't the time, we must hurry!" JD was hesitant at first, but he soon felt an unknown trust for the ball. It was like he knew it. "Alright, lead the way." He said, and the two sprinted off down the hall.

Dan was trying his best to fend off the diesels, but his fire was going cold. "I'm losing strength!" He yelled to George. "You've got this Mr Dan, just keep pushing!" His brake van yell back. Suddenly, Dan felt someone fly into his cab! "Ready Dan?" Said a familiar voice. "Emma?! Yes, let's do this!" Emma fueled his fire and Dan felt the strength in his pistons to push on, the diesel's wheels slipped and Andy came off the line! The two nearly fell into the shallow waters of the piers, but Randy held his brother's chain tightly. "Rhys and Delilah will be here soon, I swear, I'm going to help JD." Emma said. "Right, I'll fend off Smoke if he comes around." A diesel's horn blasted off in the distance behind the warehouse. "Go, I'll hold him!" Dan yelled and Emma flew off and through a window of the warehouse. "Well. Well. Well. You three couldn't handle one puny tank engine?!" Smoke rumbled in. "I'll show you all how it's done. Why, I could beat him with one rivet!" He cackled as he oiled towards the tank engine. "You'll never beat me, because I have my friends here with me, and that's all the strength I need!" Dan said, not backing down. "Friends? HA! I don't need those, I'll show you real strength!" The diesel charged at Dan. He hit the A1x Terrier so hard that he nearly knocked him off the rails. "Any last words?" The evil Class 52 asked the tank engine. Dan was about to reply when he heard a whistle in the distance. It was Rhys and he was heading towards the harbour at top speed. "Leave my best friend alone!" He yelled. Dan quickly moved out of the way just before the E2 arrived and bumped Smoke. The Black BR Class 52 was sent flying backwards. "YOU'RE GOING TO PAY FOR THAT PUFFBALL!" The evil diesel yelled in anger. Delilah quickly ran out of the D&D Railway number six's cab and into the warehouse. When she was inside, she looked around. It was dark and cold. The Werewolf used her nose to sniff out JD. Meanwhile, JD was holding Bert at gun point. He had a red mark on his neck from Bert. Emma was hiding in the dark, waiting to make a move. Delilah ran into the room and lunged at Bert. She bit down on his arm and didn't let go. "Let go of me, you stupid mutt!" He yelled as he tried to shake her off. Emma finally jumped from the shadows and lunged at Serena. She pinned her down and started hitting her! "Who do you think you are?! Stealing my boyfriend?!" She screamed as she slapped the serpent. JD finished tying up Rhys and was about to leave when he noticed Emma slapping Serena. "DON'T. EVER. TOUCH. MY. BOYFRIEND. AGAIN!!!" The poor serpent had been slapped silly. Delilah had to help get Emma off of her and get the teenage Vampire to leave. DD was hiding around the corner, only Emma saw him. He quickly hugged her and ran off. Emma tried to stop him, but she turned the corner and he was no where to be found. "S'matter? We got to go!" JD said as he tapped her shoulder. The three made their way towards the exit with Rhys.

Dan and Rhys were holding off Smoke, George felt like he was being crushed! "Oof, lighten up Mr. Rhys!" He whined. "Sorry George, I'm not trying to crush you!" He said. The crew came out of the warehouse and darted towards the engines and brake van. JD nearly threw Rhys into George's cabin, and got back into Dan's cab. "Back off!" Dan weashed steam at the diesel and he backed off. The three raced backwards as Smoke recovered. "Get back here!" Smoke yelled, a saw came out from his roof and his wheels skidded forwards! Dan made it out by the soot of his bunker as the diesel swung his hydraulic arm towards his funnel. "YOU WON'T GET AWAY!" He yelled. The group got away and made it back to the sheds where George was parked in the carriage sheds. Dan and Rhys were then parked in their respective berths. Delilah, Emma, and JD entered George's cabin. Rhys was trying to still break free. JD began to untie Rhys while Emma held his face still with one hand, she looked into his eyes. He seemed to recognize her in his soul, but his body and mind were trying to reject her. Emma kissed Rhys on the lips, the two held themselves like that for a few seconds. Rhys blinked rapidly a couple times. "Emma... you freed me!" Rhys exclaimed as the ropes came undone. "I guess I did. George cheered outside, "Well done everyone! You guys got Rhys back!" "Couldn't have done it without you George." JD said. "Please, anyone could have done it, I'm grateful to be of service! Now I must get off to bed now. Goodnight everyone!" "Goodnight George." Everyone in his cabin said. They exited and walked towards the bus stop. Rhys and Emma were going to take the bus home while JD and Delilah were going to take his car to Delilah's house, JD was going to explain everything to DD's family with Sir William V and Delilah as backup. The two drove off in JD's car, the music low and the car driving fast. Delilah, in her human form, looked out of the window. "Like the car?" JD asked, trying to make small talk. "Yeah, it's nice." She said, still staring out the window. She seemed sad. "What's the matter?" JD asked, he slowed down so he could pay better attention. There was a long pause. "I miss him." Delilah finally said. "We all do, I can only imagine how hard it was on his parents and siblings." "When do you think he'll come back to us?" "I don't know Delilah. But we're going to try tomorrow night. Make sure to get a lot of sleep tonight and tomorrow, and make sure to brush your teeth of Bert, he smells like my trash during the summer." Delilah started laughing at the last comment, JD had a smile on his face now, he turned up the radio and they drove off faster into the night.

The next morning, Delilah finished brushing her teeth and walked downstairs, she had a crop top on and was wearing DD's hoodie with some shorts and short socks. The whole extended family was over, JD and Sir William V were in the center of the living room while everyone was set up in chairs. "Everyone, we have an announcement to make." Sir William V started. "We've found out that DD... is alive." The family was in shock! There were some audible gasps heard in the small crowd. "I can confirm this, I've seen him, alive." Delilah said. "Right, he never died. The truth is his death was faked by a man called Z. His true identity is Zach Martin. A trouble making scientist who has a knack for making weaponry. He is trying to use DD for something I don't even know yet. But soon, we will be bringing DD back home, safe and alive." JD explained. His short speech was met with applause and DD's mom walking up to JD and hugged him. "We know you will." She said as she squeezed him tight. Dan was waiting outside DD's house for Delilah and JD. "Gramps, we're heading out, we're going to need Dan, Rhys, and Tatum to assist in this job today." "Right, well consider their days cleared." He said. JD and Delilah hopped into Dan and the three set off as Sir William V watched them go. "Be safe. And bring DD home." He whispered to them as he watched the terrier make his way to the station.
