Running as fast as you can won't work in a situation like this, reader.
When you're being chased down for being the one not on time, it was really your fault for being late in the first place! With the way you're running at an exceptional speed, dodging blades of scissors and even risking haircuts over it—
It just makes anybody wonder why you didn't use said speed not to be tardy?
Maybe it's because it's only a short amount, if the way you're breathing being uneven and the fact you're sweating more than you had accounted for whenever you catch a break to stop for a minute and continue escaping had meant anything.
You had all the time in the world to finish your given quest too, so why waste it and wait for the timer to be over rather than get those body parts the caller asked of you?
How upsetting.
And yet here you were, running for your life until there wasn't any other place to run anymore, the feeling of hopelessness being beyond your understanding. It's not like you could keep getting out of their grasp, so why continue running, reader?
Why continue running until you trip over something, forcing you off balance?
Until you fall down onto the ground and groan, clearly unhappy with the unsatisfying pain of your body slamming into the icy cold footing.
