In a field of lush green grass, just beyond a large stone wall, a boy and a girl lay side-by-side gazing up at the stars. Due to the damn near unbearable heat the boy was clad only in a pair of loose-fitted linen trousers dyed black. The girl wore his shirt, which brushed the top of her small feet.

The boy’s thick black hair splayed out around his head mixing with the grass and her much longer chestnut brown locks. His skin was a soft golden bronze with a faint muscular tone beneath it.

The girl beside him was a scrawny looking youth with a chubby round face and full pouted lips, just like his. She positioned herself so her head could rest on his shoulder tiny feet just barely brushing his knees.

“Dom what is that big bright star over there?” She inquired while pointing up at the black sky.

He followed her slender finger till his hickory eyes landed on a bright round spot in the sky.

“Ah that, is the giant.” He replies with a soft smile.

“Cool. I hope I know as much as you when I’m older.”

“Trust me Lyah you will know far more than I ever did before you turn eight, I'll make sure of it.”

Aalyah smiled at her older brother then looked back at the stars. Neither noticed the three figures creeping up behind them.

They were wearing black suits with low hanging hoods. The lower half of their faces were covered by a black cloth and their hands covered by black gloves.

With a soft sigh Dominik slowly started to sit up, “Come now Lyah, it is getting late, and you know mother worries.” The older boy prompts.

“Can we stay a bit longer Dommie? I want to know more about the stars.” The girl begged.

He laughed but shook his head none the less. While his head shook Dominik noticed the group approaching them. A chill ran up his spine causing the hairs on the back of his neck to stand as a shudder wracked his body.

It’s far too hot to be dressed in such a manner.

“Hey Lyah, wanna Race?” Dominik asked while rushing to his feet.

A bright smile spread across her face as she jumped up and took off east, not even noticing the danger. Dominik watched her for a moment before walking towards the cloaked figures. Before he got too close, he heard a soft woosh sound. A sharp pain shot through Dominik’s left hip causing him to look down. The reddened tip of a silver arrow was protruding through his side.
