Chapter three ❤
"Are you serious, Chloe?" I bellowed while- for the second time today- her head snapped up as she stared at me in awe. I can understand why- it was rare when i shouted at her, or just shouted in general. Silence seeped into the room quickly filling all four corners of the room. My voice seemed to echo and bounce of all of the walls. My eyes averted towards Cam who seemed to wear a poker face expression. Dafuq is wrong with him? I mean it wasn't even the fact of them two getting together, they would be cute. It was the fact that just hours earlier she was wrapped around River playing tonsil tennis with him AND i haven't even know these boys a day yet!
"Carter.." She stuttered, her eyes wide and full of guilt and fear.
"Save it" I sighed rolling my eyes before storming out to the beach trying to control the anger that was seeping and ready to explode.
"You okay, C?" A familiar voice cleared me from my thoughts. A voice i was glad to hear.
"She always does this to me, you know? Everytime i try to make friends that's it, they're hers. It was one of the reasons we moved. I just can't handle this" I sighed observing the waves crashing softly against the sand.
"Handle what?" He asked softly taking a seat next to me.
"All of it. The backstabbing. The heartbreaks and everything in between. You wouldn't believe the amount of boys that have used me in different ways to even get her attention. Turns out he's just another one of them, huh?" my voice getting quieter with every word along the sentence.
"He wouldn't do that. Cameron might be a dick at times be he would never do that. There has to be a reason for him doing it" Dan stated, softly biting his lip. Silence soon surrounded us in a comfertable way.
"I'm just so used to hiding in her shadow all the time, i wanted it to be different. Look where that got me" I broke the silence with a bitter laugh.
"You look freezing" he chuckled ignoring my statement while taking of his jumper and giving it to me. I laughed softly before putting it on. Damn the boy is huge.
"Thanks" I smiled slightly nudging him. I took in his fire red hair and he noticed.
"Why did you dye your hair red?" i smiled slightly.
He chuckled. "It's a long story"
"I have time"
"My sister, Emily, had cancer at the age of 13. She was very strong. Long dark brown hair fell down to her waist in beautiful waves. And her cat-like eyes, a beautiful green with gold peppered in them while surrounded by long, thick brown lashes making her eyes stand out even more. She stood tall for her age, maybe 5 feet and 8 inches; about a head smaller than myself. While a tan glowed off her skin. She was beautiful. Even though she had cancer she didnt look for anyones pity or sympathy. She just wanted to live life to the fullest and laughed at everytime she got. Red was her favourite colour and always went on about how she wanted to dye her hair that colour one day...Couple of years a go she died. That day, i just dyed my hair for her. Red. It just keeps me connected to her, you know?" He finished with tears sliding down his perfect face.
"I'm so sorry, cant imagine how hard it was for you" I whispered softly wiping his tears away with my tumb softly.
"She reminds me of you in a lot of ways." He smiled through his tears making me blush.
"well it suits you" i smirked before ruffling his hair. He sniffed pulling himself back together pushed me over on the sand before fixing his hair. Typical.
"You must think i'm a wimp, right?"
"No. I don't. You can't act strong all the time because eventually it will break you on the inside. It's okay to cry." i looked into his eyes seeing the layer of tears that still covered his coal black eyes.
"You're gonna have to talk to her sooner or later, you know" Helping me back up.
I sighed looking at the house. "I know".
"Where did Connor go?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows.
"To see what the hell Cam was playing at" he sniggered. I smirked dragging him towards my house.
I took a deep breath before walking into the house that was still thick with tension. My eyes fell to the little blonde girl sitting on the table with her head in her hands. I cleared my throat. Slowly she looked up. Her eyes dull and were emtionless. Mascara ran down her cheeks mixed in with tears as the light shined off.
"Carter" She croaked in desperation. My tounge ran across the top row of my teeth.
"Chloe" I breathed bluntly.
"You must think im a whore, right?" She chuckled bitterly.
"Why do you do it? Why do you always go after my friends, huh? You know what happens! You get them wrapped around your perfectly manicured pinky and they completely drop me. And then you hurt them and they turn on ME and are like out to get me or something like its my fault. It's like you don't want me to have friends?! How about we move onto boyfriends? Huh? How everytime i actually like someone you have to go after them like you have to prove something to yourself? I can't do this anymore Chloe! You won't believe the amount of times iv'e been hurt and used because of you!" It just kept spilling out, i couldn't stop it. All them years of bottling it up, it felt pretty good to let it out.
"I know" She whispered, her eyes drawing attention the table and traced the pattern softly.
I sighed brushing my hands through my hair roughly.
"Just stop, okay?" I said softly trying to get her to face me. I looked up quickly and scanned my face curiously.
"You forgive me?" She asked hopeful hoping of the table.
"You're my best friend, aint ya?" I joked as the sides of my mouth perked up.
"Im so sorry" She rambled before leaping on me and squeezed me into a hug.
"I just don't want you to get a bad name. We have been here for a day" I said pulling away.
"I know" You looked to the ground biting her lip softly.
"I'm gonna go shower, okay?" She stated sheepishly before running upstairs. I smiled at her as she ran up. I turned around to see Dan leaning against the doorframe with a smile on his face.
"What you smiling at" I poked my tounge out before making my way to the living room.
"You're such a good friend, you know that right?"
"I know" I smiled.
