Joseph - Unknown date, unknown time, unknown place

I didn't understand what was going on, everything was a blurr in my tiring eyes; the room was finger-numbing cold. Ear-piercing screeches echoed the air, churning my eardrums into sand dust. My fingers were in something wet, blood, or something else.

Dear Lord, I hope that's water, or even urine for once.

I think to myself and roll onto my side painfully, something like barbed wire stuck into my side, and dug in deeper in my skin as I moved around. I shuddered in ounce of pain as my eyes fluttered open, but only for a moment. I was exhausted, and it was hard to keep my eyes open, nor stay awake.

Where am I? How did I get here?

My head pounded against my temple, threatening to burst my brain from the inside out, probably enough to spread everywhere on the walls.

I guess it wouldn't matter...They were already stained.

I opened my green eyes again, and kept them open this time, and they instantly saw a limp-dead-like figure next to my side. It took me a bit to realize that it was my boyfriend, and detective partner, Joseph Oda.

J-Joseph!

His face was extremely pale, as if he was a ghost himself. I hoped to God he wasn't dead. He showed no signs of life, except for one thing, his chest, which moved up and down against the pavement under him.

"J-Joseph..." I whispered and reached my hand over to him; I gently touched his forehead, my hand burned on instant touch. He must've had a very bad fever because I felt as if my hand was touching hot coals. "Don't worry, I'm gonna get you out of here..." I groan and prop myself up on my elbows, I could now see that there WAS barbed wire in my sides; wrapped up and down both my arms and legs. "What the fuck...?" Confusion grew in my tired brain.

I tried to get up, but my body refused and said nope and collasped underneath me against my will. I cried out loudly as I hit the concrete floor, and that cry must've been loud because it had awoken the beast next to me.

Joseph was now holding my shoulder and was starting to lift me up, avoiding the barbed wire to avoid injuring me.

"J-Joseph...You're s-" I tried to say, but was interrupted by his dry lips pressing to my cracked one's. I was stunned at first, but gave in and kissed my boyfriend lightly back. I tasted blood, my own blood, my lips had cracked badly and leaked the crimson liquid.

I parted our lips and hugged him as tight as I could, now ignoring the pain that destroyed my nerves. I was with him, and knew everything was going to be okay.

"I'm so glad you're okay..." I choked on my tears and buried my face into his chest to avoid crying in front of him.

"Catherine..." He whispered my name against my ear gradually. His fingers gently trailed up and down my spine, making me feel like jell-o. "I'm fine...We're fine...We're gonna be okay..." He then rubbed his gloved hand over my head to comfort me more. "Now let's find something to cut that wire..." He kissed me once more and gently laid me down in a soft cushioned chair.
