People outgrow bodies
Out of their bones and skin
People outgrow people
Their lovers, friends, and kin
Their eyes that used to be so big
And brighter than the moon
Shrink and fade and dissipate
Because they aren't for you
They forget the way your name tastes
Falling off their lips
They forget the way you laughed
The way you moved your hips
It's hard to watch their eyes light up
For somebody new
The harsh reality sets in
That that somebody's not you
They say to let your loved ones leave
And they'll come home to you
No one ever says that you might
Not be what they choose
What a way it is to feel
Like no one in your heart
Can ever truly love you
Never felt it from the start
