Prayers from Noah to Abraham Below is a compilation of prayers offered by Noah, Shem, and Abraham (and others in-between) as recorded in the Apocrypha, Pseudepigrapha, and the Tanakh. These prayers are organized chronologically and thematically.
Prayers of Noah1. Noah's Prayer Before the Flood (Book of Jasher 5:13–17), (Jubilees 5:12–13)
Noah prays for protection and deliverance amidst growing wickedness."O King, Creator of Shamayim and Adamah, You have seen the wickedness of men upon Adamah, and their selfish ways have turned against You. But I have found grace in Your sight. Protect me, my family, and the creatures You have entrusted to me. Guide us through the coming judgment, and let Your will be done."
2. Noah's Thanksgiving After the Flood (Genesis 8:20–22), (Jubilees 6:1–6)
Noah offers thanks and makes a covenantal offering after the Flood subsides."O King of Creation, I thank You for sparing me and my family. You have shown great mercy amidst Your judgment. May Your name be glorified forever. I offer this sacrifice of clean animals in Your name Aravat, and I ask that You bless adamah once more, removing the curse of the ground. Let Your favor rest upon us and all living things creatures whom have spared."
3. Noah's Prayer for the Future (Jubilees 10:1–3) Noah prays for his descendants, asking for protection from the demons who are the disembodiment of the Nephilem race.
"O King Creation, You know the workings of the fallen Malakhim and you know of the wicked spirits who lead men astray before the deluge. Bind them that they may no longer deceive my children and their children after them. Let Your righteousness dwell in their hearts, that they may walk in Your ways and not turn to corruption."
4. Noah's Prayer Against Demons (Jubilees 10:4–9)
Noah prays against the influence of disembodied spirits (demons) that cause corruption. Aravat grants Mestema (Heyl'el, Satan) permission to have 10% of these disembodied souls but Aravat casts the 90% into oblivion away from the children of Noah until judgment day."Aravat Father and King of all creation, You have given dominion to man over all Your works, but the unclean spirits corrupt their ways and lead man into sin. Restrain them, I pray, and let them no longer have power over mankind. Grant us deliverance from their snares and let Your holy malakhim guide us into righteousness."
Response from Aravat: "I shall grant your request. I will bind 90% of the spirits and cast them into oblivion, leaving only a tenth for Mestema, that My people may be tested but not overcome. My malakhim will protect the righteous, and My name will be glorified among them."
5. Shem's Prayer for Righteousness Prayers of Shem (Son of Noah)
(Cave of Treasures, Chapter 11) Shem offers a prayer to remain faithful as the nations begin to divide."O King of Creation, You are the Creator of all nations and the Judge of all men malakhim alike. Let my portion be with You, and keep me from the ways of idolatry and wickedness. Let me teach my children to walk in righteousness and to honor Your name in all generations."
6. Eber's Prayer for Mercy Prayers of Eber (Great-Grandson of Shem) (Jubilees 12:1–2)
Eber prays as the nations descend into idolatry."O Aravat Most High, the hearts of men have turned to worthless idols, and they no longer remember You, the Creator of all life. Have mercy on me and my family, and let us walk in Your ways. Do not let the ways of the wicked consume us, but preserve us in righteousness."
7. Abraham's Prayer for Guidance. Prayers of Abraham (Jubilees 12:19–22)
When called to leave his father's house, Abraham prays for direction."O King of Shamayim and Adamah, You have called me to leave my father's house and the land of my birth. Teach me Your ways, that I may walk in your righteousness. Guide my steps and make Your will known to me, for I desire to serve You and keep Your commandments."
8. Abraham's Intercession for Sodom (Genesis 18:23–33), (Jasher 18:16–19)
Abraham pleads for mercy on behalf of Sodom."O King of my fathers, will You indeed destroy the righteous with the wicked? If there are fifty righteous within the city, will You spare it for their sake? You are the Judge of all adamah, and Your judgments are just. Remember Your mercy, and for the sake of the righteous, spare the city."
9. Abraham's Prayer at the Covenant of Pieces (Genesis 15:8–11), (Jubilees 14:8–20)
Abraham prays for assurance of the covenant."O King Aravat, You have promised to make me a great nation and to give this land to my descendants. How shall I know that this will come to pass? Confirm Your covenant with me, that I may trust in Your promises and teach my children to do likewise."
10. Abraham's Prayer for Ishmael (Genesis 17:18)
Abraham prays for Ishmael to share in Aravat's blessing."O King Creation, may Ishmael live before You! Let him walk in Your ways and be a partaker of Your covenant. Bless him and make him a great nation, for he is my son."
11. Abraham's Prayer of Thanksgiving (Genesis 22:14)
After being provided a ram in place of Isaac, Abraham prays."O great King Aravat, You are faithful to Your promises, and You provide in ways beyond understanding. You have shown Yourself to be Aravat-Yireh, my Father who provides. May Your name be glorified forever."
