Author POV
Hours passed, the evening sun barely filtering through the glass wall of Edward's office. The once-organized space was now a reflection of his fury as papers and files scattered in every direction, it was like a whirlwind of destruction. Edward stood by the window, his back rigid, hands on his waist, breathing heavily as anger consumed him. He had fired nine employees today, yelled at countless others, and canceled every meeting. His mind was a storm, and nothing could settle it.
Ben knocked twice before hesitantly stepping inside, holding a stack of files.
“Got anything?” Edward’s voice was cold, distant, his eyes never leaving the view outside.
Ben swallowed hard, his heart racing with nerves. “N-no sir” he replied, his voice trembling.
In a flash, Edward grabbed a file from his desk and hurled it across the room. It crashed against the wall with a loud thud, sending a shockwave through the space.
“What the hell are you doing?! Huh?!” Edward roared, his anger surging as he turned on Ben. The intensity of his gaze made Ben shrink back.
Ben flinched, holding his breath. “Sir please- calm down” he urged, though his voice wavered in fear.
“Calm down?!” Edward’s voice grew louder, his frustration boiling over. “She was almost attacked AGAIN, and we still don’t know who’s behind this?! How the hell am I supposed to calm down?!” His words came out in a furious roar, each syllable an explosion of emotion.
Ben stood frozen, unable to say anything. He could feel the weight of Edward’s anger pressing down on him, knowing that nothing he could say would ease the storm inside Edward.
(Flashback to the day when Edward and Amelia saw the SUNRISE for the first time together~)
In Edward’s company office, his frown deepened as one of his men reported, “Sir, Mr. Richard Clarke has been hovering around Miss Wilson. Although our team has politely warned him to stay away from Miss, but he keeps lurking from a distance, and we can't say as he didn't yet approached Miss Wilson.”
Edward’s jaw tightened at the news. Just then, a knock interrupted his thoughts. “Come in” he said sharply, and Mr. Abbott entered the room.
“Sir, Miss-” Mr. Abbott began, but Edward held up a hand, his attention pulled away by his personal phone ringing. Seeing it was his parents, he answered immediately and spoke to them. After a brief two-minute conversation, he ended the call and turned his attention back to Mr. Abbott.
“Continue”
Mr. Abbott cleared his throat “Sir, Miss Amelia is currently at the graveyard”
Edward’s expression shifted slightly. “She didn’t tell me about that” he murmured, a hint of frustration flickering in his eyes.
“...And Miss Wilson got almost attacked” Mr. Abbott informed, his voice tinged with urgency.
“Excuse me, what?!” Edward couldn’t believe the words he was hearing, his body going rigid with shock and anger.
(In the Graveyard)
Standing by her aunt’s grave, she spoke softly, mentioning Edward and the necklace he had given her, which she thought she lost forever “I won’t lose it again, I promise! And I’ll try to get that wooden box back too” As she finished speaking, she heard a rustling noise from the bushes nearby. She turned around, only to see a pigeon flying out, which brought a small smile to her face. Though the sight made her smile faintly, unaware of the true danger that had been lurking just moments before.
