Amelia first day in his Mansion went by exploring here and there. Most of the time in the afternoon she stayed around Aunty Maria, her way of cooking really impressed her a lot. She then sat inside the home theatre watched a movie after a very long time accompany by Lily and Rosalin who were young maids as Amelia insisted.

Later in the evening, she had a lively conversation with Kelly and Bella over the phone. Though Bella was most interested in talking about what happened between her and him while Kelly was avoiding talking about him making Amelia wonder what actually happened between those two in school days which made Kelly to hate Edward so much. Soon their chatter eased her mind, making her laugh and feel a little less isolated. Just as she hung up, her sister Samantha called her. Well most of the time, it was Luca and Luna talking to her through video call.

By evening, the mansion grew quiet. The staffs had gone to the staff quarters, and the maids had finished their tasks and left. Amelia ate dinner with the company of Aunty Maria.

Edward had called earlier to let her know he would be working late and that she shouldn't wait up for him. She nodded at the phone showing no reaction at his words.

Aunty Maria told about the Davies family to her. And Aunty Maria had been a care taker all these years even before her, Her elder sister used to take care of the house even before Sister Samantha was born.

As the hours passed, the mansion's silence grew heavier. After the night routine Amelia climbed into bed, the duvet pulled snugly up to her chest.
Amelia shifted slightly, her gaze falling on the wall where the large photo frames of her family hung. The more she looked at them, the more her chest tightened. Memories of her protective brother and her aunty's gentle care came rushing back. Faded memories of her parents loving smiles lingered in her mind it was blurry but deeply ingrained.

A lump formed in her throat as her eyes welled up. She fought against the tears threatening to spill. No, she couldn't cry, not right now. Because if they started, she knew it would be impossible to stop. Turning her face toward the balcony, curtains were opened and windows were closed but she could see the beautiful silent view of night through the glass window to calm the storm within her. Her gaze following the little twinkling fireflies playing with each other as they dance in the silent dark.

It was late midnight when Edward returned, his footsteps heavy with exhaustion. He unlocked the door quietly, stepping into their bedroom with practiced ease. His eyes immediately sought her out, and a faint smile touched his lips when he saw her laying on the bed facing the balcony though the lights were still on. For a moment he just stood there, watching her and the tension in his shoulders easing slightly as he thought she was sleeping.

He didn't want to disturb her rest, so he moved silently, placing his things on the table and heading toward the washroom to freshen up. Stepping out of the washroom, drying his hair with a towel, and slipped into a pair of comfortable nightclothes kept in the cabinet of washroom.

He turned off the lights, plunging the room into darkness. The moonlight from the balcony created faint outlines of the furniture and cast a silvery glow across the room. He slipped under the duvet and reached out instinctively, his hand finding her waist.

Suddenly, Amelia flinched and threw his hand away, sitting up abruptly.

"Who is it?!" she gasped her voice laced with fear as she fumbled to turn on the bedside lamp.
Startled, Edward sat up, blinking at the sudden light. "It's me. Who else would be in our room if not me wifey?" he asked he was slightly puzzled.

Amelia froze for a moment before relaxing, her tense shoulders easing. "When... when did you come?"

"I thought you were asleep, so I didn't make any noise" he replied softly, leaning back against the headboard.
