First day.

I was walking through theatre doors. It was my first day and I was scared. I was starting up on Darwin then I was going to Keller then to AAU. Darwin is a cardiothoracic ward. Ct for short. I was early. Sometimes you need to make a good impression and today was on of them. I clicked the button and of I went to Darwin. As they doors opened I heard them say we have a major HTU patient coming up we have to be very prepared.
I just saw Jac Naylor and I walked up to her and said "you must be Dr. Jones" I decided to shake her hand. Then she told me to go and get navy blue scrubs on. So I did what she said. . I was waiting to meet everyone and then I realised I might not be meting them all today because I just looked out the window and saw how busy it was. I walked quickly out of the room and went to go and see the big pile of patient's files. I asked Dr. Naylor which patient I should see said that I could have full hand on the HDU patient. I was so excited. "Hello my name is Dr. Lowe and I will be doctor." I explain. "Please can I get ECG, lifts, group and save and a full chest CT please, what's your name. "Nurse Maconie. Jonny is my first name " Jac came over and Jonny gave Jac a little kiss. Jac just smiled and walked away. "I didn't realise you two were together" I ask very politely. "Yeh we have two children both girls. One unfortunately one had a congenital diagrammatic hernia but it is all ok now. Oh I was wondering if you knew any wedding planners. I'm thinking on proposing" He said nearly in tears I felt really sorry for him so I decided to take his mind of it by asking him. "How are you thinking of proposing to her?" "Well as she loves her work so much I am going to propose to her here?" The monitor started to beep. I realised that he had torn his oesophagus. I had to rush him into theatre to do an osfigectamie. "Miss Naylor can you please assist me in theatre to do an yes having two children this does me good to get back into shape" she laughs we got him into theatre and under oesophagucamie." I ran alongside the bed. "You must get really fit running around like this every day all day" I ask. "well anicteric very quickly and I could not wait because I have been on this new ward for about 1 hour and I am already in theatre performing a osofigectamy . I had to make a good impression. Did I tell you that I have anxiety so I have to be careful and make sure I don't have a panic attack in the middle of theatre but I think I must of spoken to soon, I was just closing up and they were taking of bypass and I suddenly felt a not in my stomach, my hands were getting all sweaty and they started to weal him out of theatre and then I started shaking my through started closing up and I couldn't breathe!! "Are you ok? Dr. Lowe, can you talk to me?" I tried to reply back with a no but nothing was coming out so I wrote down on a piece of paper 'I'm having a panic attack' she looked at me sat me down and said for me to breath in through my nose and then hold for 7 seconds and then out through my mouth. I finally could breath. She asked me "What just happened?" I thought I better explain! "Well I just had a panic attack. I have been having them since I was 14 years old and I haven't had one in ages so I just think this is one of a lot!" She looked really sympathetic. This wasn't how I wanted to start my first day at Darwin. "Is there any reason that you have been having them?" She asks really politely "Well I was put in care for years then I went into foster care and all I thought that I could do was get good grades so I could do what I wanted in my life which was to be a doctor and I have pasted all my exam I am now a consultant just trying to find out what I want to do in my life and after what just happened I am so embarrassed that I just want to go and hide away." I was just about to cry. What an amazing start to my first day. "Don't worry. I know exactly what you have been through my mum left me when I was twelve but let's get on and don't worry I won't tell anyone about what just happened" I walked out of that theatre just like nothing had ever happened and that I am just an ordinary consultant !
