"H-Hongjoong?.." Seonghwa stuttered out, not believing the said man was in front of him. Hongjoong's face showed worry as he immediately put his hand on Seonghwa's forehead, making him flinch in the process. "Are you ok? Are you sick? Did something happen?"Seonghwa rolled his eyes as he took off Hongjoong's hand from his forehead. "I'm fine, genius." Seonghwa sarcastically said, leaning against the wooden frame of his door.
Hongjoong confusedly tilted his head and stared at Seonghwa. "Then why did you leave work without notifying anyone?" The male asked, waiting for an answer.
Seonghwa wanted to say that he was the reason but he couldn't say that to Hongjoong- yet. He simply replied with "uhmm... Personal issues."
Hongjoong slowly nodded his head, getting a good look inside Seonghwa's home since the door was wide open. Seonghwa noticed and felt a wave of annoyance. He cleared his throat, trying to get Hongjoong's attention back. "So...Why are you here exactly?" Seonghwa questioned, raising one of his eyebrows.
"Boss told me to come check on you. He even gave me your address."
"Well you can see with your eyes that I am just fine right? I suppose this is the part where you leave."
Seonghwa stopped leaning on the door frame and rudely slammed the door shut, dusting his hands with his coat. He was curious to see how Hongjoong had reacted so he carefully opened the side of his curtain, expecting to see the other male's shocked expression.
Instead, he was met with an empty porch, and a empty neighborhood. Seonghwa rubbed his eyes, thinking that his mind was playing tricks on him. No matter how many times he rubbed his eyes, nothing changed. Hongjoong had disappeared before the human eye could even catch it.
Seonghwa brushed it off quickly and thought Hongjoong had just ran away as quick as he could. He didn't bother opening the door again. He didn't care anyways.
He swiftly made his way to his bedroom, wanting to have a peaceful nap after this hectic day.
-
Right after his relaxing nap, Seonghwa walked into his living room, checking the time with his half-open sleepy eyes. It was currently 8:47PM. He decided that he would take a walk around the park since he found solace and peace walking when it was dark.
He left his house to go to the park and on the way he couldn't help but smile when he saw a father and his son holding hands while they shared laughs and smiles together. He also couldn't help the loneliness he felt deep inside him. It was wrong of him to feel like that since he was the one who decided to move away from his parents. Even so, he still felt alone. It hadn't really been that long since he broke up with his girlfriend.
Sieun, was her name. They actually had a decent relationship. Perfect, Seonghwa would say. They both loved eachother but he guessed Sieun loved her job more than him. She left to America without even saying goodbye properly.
The only thing he received was a text stating that she wanted to break up with him. He hadn't known about her travelling until Wooyoung had told him, by then it was too late. Seonghwa hasn't seen her for 3 years. Maybe it was better that way.
Maybe someone like him didn't deserve love.
Seonghwa huffed out the cold air through his mouth, fraying his hands together in an attempt to warm them up. Walking along the park's sidewalk was comforting, it was like a hug.
The darker it got, the harder it was to see. Seonghwa could barely see where he was walking. The only thing he could make out was a dark figure standing far away. Something was facing his direction, standing completely still.
Scared was an understatement for how Seonghwa was feeling. He was beyond terrified. He regretted stepping out of the comfort of his home. He felt unsafe and he wanted to get out of the park.
He reluctantly turned around slowly, and he didn't think twice before he started sprinting away. He never thought he would have to run away from someone again, but fate always had a funny way of happening.
He hadn't even thought of looking back until he came to a halt at a convenience store close to the park. He slowly turned his head back, relieved that there was nothing behind him. Catching his breath, Seonghwa opened the door to the store and went in without hesitation. He decided to get a few items since he was already here.
He greeted the cashier before he got a basket and started searching for the snack aisle. He felt like getting some rice balls after the weird encounter he had with that black figure.
He was too immersed in finding the right rice balls that he hadn't noticed that another person had entered the store. When he finally found the rice ball he wanted, he stepped back and suddenly bumped into someone. He was quick to turn around and was about to apologize until he realized who it was.
It was Hongjoong.
Seonghwa quickly turned back around and decided to ignore him and act like he wasn't there but Hongjoong was making it quite hard. "Oh Seonghwa-ssi! What a coincidence!" Hongjoong said, chuckling while his smile shone bright. "I didn't know you would be here!"
Seonghwa bit his lip and cursed under his breath before he turned around once again and faked a smile at Hongjoong, apologizing for bumping into him. "Yeah uhm! Just shopping for a few items and I uhm need some food- for my cat."
Hongjoong playfully furrowed his eyebrows and curiously asked, "Cat? Oh! I'm guessing you've always had one then." He let out, not knowing of the situation. Seonghwa nodded and let a sigh out. "Yeah uhm something like that. Found it in a alleyways and now I'm taking care of it."
Hongjoong let out an 'oh' and nodded, being aware of the situation. He checked the time on his wristwatch and looked back at Seonghwa. "It's getting rather late so I better go home now. See you tomorrow at the office Seonghwa-ssi!" Hongjoong bowed down and started walking away before Seonghwa could open his mouth.
Well, atleast he didn't have to deal with him anymore. He wasn't really that bad but Seonghwa just couldn't bare being close to him. It felt like Hongjoong was the kind of weirdo that gave people stuffed animals with hidden cameras so he could spy on them. It felt unsettling just hearing Hongjoong's name.
Seonghwa shook his thoughts off. After a while he paid for his items after successfully finding cat food. After he paid, he hesitantly opened the door that led outside. It was some time around midnight, and it was now completely dark outside and the dim lights of the post lamps weren't of much help.
He noticed a car still parked outside and thought it was just the cashier's car. He was proven wrong when the car door opened, revealing none other than Hongjoong himself. Seonghwa created a straight line with his mouth.
Hongjoong gave Seonghwa that bright annoying smile he always gave him ever since they met. Seonghwa considered turning around and walking to his house but he was stopped by Hongjoong. "Seonghwa-ssi let me take you home. It's late and I wouldn't want you walking around at this time. Don't want you getting kidnapped right?" He chuckled as he gently opened the passenger seat and signalled Seonghwa to enter.
Seonghwa knew he couldn't reject the offer since he would come off as rude, more than he already was. He nodded before getting in the seat, Hongjoong shutting the door.
