“H-hi?” his presence sends shivers down my spine‚ kahit hindi pa siya nag sasalita—pakiramdam ko ay delikado ang buhay ko. Gayunpaman ay ayaw mapalis ang aking suwail na mata sakaniya.
“You seem scared. Are you afraid of me?” his blank expression hid a threat. I felt like I was tiptoeing around a ticking bomb—kunting mali lamang ay siguradong dedo ako
Here we are‚ sitting across from each other. When I got back to the Philippines‚ our date was scheduled as planned before the wedding. Pakiramdam ko‚ wala na sa puwesto ang aking puso dahil sa pagwawala niyon.
“Of course n-not. No r-reason to be afraid‚ r-right?” I stuttered‚ but I survived
“You’re intimidated‚ aren’t you? Don’t be—I couldn’t possibly harm someone as innocent as you” laglag ang panga ko sa narinig‚ but somehow—I got this strange sense of calm‚ filling me with safety
“By the way‚ you look stunning in that outfit. Your beauty shines even more in person than in pictures” he complimented me while casually cutting into his steak.
Tila hindi ko matago ang kilig dahil kusang gumuhit ang ngiti sa aking labi. Ibinaling ko na lamang tingin sa aking pagkain
I feel like my face is burning with a deep blush “T-thank you”
“Don’t thank me. I’m not trying to flatter you—I’m just stating the obvious” He sounded boring and expressionless
“Wala ka ba sa mood para sa date na ’to. Puwede naman natin—”
“If I weren’t in the mood‚ I wouldn’t have bothered showing up” As he cut me off‚ he turned his gaze towards me. Napakagat na lamang ako sa ibabang bahagi ng aking labi
“You’re worth spending time on‚ Sullivan” his responses were quite unpredictable. His aura perfectly matches his face
The air was thick with unspoken tension.
“You don’t really want to marry me‚ do you? But our families’ agreement kinda seals the deal” He spoke as his gaze directly locked on mine‚ ako na ang nailang kaya iniwas ko ang tingin sakaniya at ibinalik sa aking kinakain
“At first‚ yes. Pero tulad ng sabi mo. Our families had it planned”
“Now that we’ve met‚ do you still want to go through with it? Will you still have me as your husband?” his question grabbed my attention‚ so I looked back to him
“That questions suit you better‚ Schaerer. So—are you willing to proceed with our arranged marriage‚ even if it’s just for money” pagbalik ng tanong ko sakanya‚ tiim bagang niya akong tinignan
He filled his glass with wine from the bottle “What do you think my response‚ Sullivan?” nagtagpo ang dalawang kilay ko dahil sa halip na sagotin niya ay nag tanong nanaman siya pabalik.
“Sa tingin ko—hindi mo gustong maikasal sa akin. Maybe you’re just respecting your father’s memory by agreeing to this arranged marriage”
He flashed a small smile as the wine’s last drop disappeared “Didn’t you think I really wanted you as my husband?” napalunok na lamang ako sa tanong niya
I instantly rolled my eyes “Schaerer‚ if you just looking for fun? Hindi mo na kailangang magpakasal. Plenty of gorgeous people would love to be with you”
“Forget the money. Would you still agree to marry me if this weren’t an arranged marriage?” tila kakapusin ako ng hininga sa tanong niya
Minabuti ko pa rin na huwag ipakita sakaniya na ayaw ko sa tanong niya “Will you be mad if I say no?” inaasahan ko ang pag iba ng ekspresyon niya kasi diba‚ he’s Darios Schaerer—I’m nobody. Tapos ako pa ang may ganang tumanggi. But his gaze remained cold as ice
