_Chapter 2: New Arrival_
As Ashton navigated the crowded hallways, he noticed a commotion near the school entrance. Students were buzzing around a newcomer, a girl with striking features and an air of quiet confidence.
"Who's that?" Ashton asked Jake, nodding toward the girl.
"No idea," Jake replied, "but she's definitely turning heads."
Intrigued, Ashton watched as the girl effortlessly handled the attention, her piercing violet eyes sparkling with amusement. When their gazes met, Ashton felt an unexpected jolt.
"Hey," she said, approaching him with a hint of a smile. "I'm Lilith."
Ashton's friends stared, mesmerized by Lilith's ethereal beauty. Ashton, however, sensed something more – a depth, a mystery that drew him in.
"I'm Ashton," he replied, feeling a little awkward. "Welcome to our school."
Lilith's gaze lingered on his face before she turned to Jake. "And you are...?"
"Jake," he replied, his tone friendly but slightly guarded.
Ashton noticed Emily watching their exchange, her expression unreadable.
Throughout the day, Ashton found himself glancing at Lilith, wondering about her story. She seemed to sense his curiosity and would occasionally catch his eye, her smile hinting at secrets.
In his last class, Ashton was surprised to find Lilith sitting beside him.
"You're struggling," she whispered, nodding toward his notes. "Want help?"
Ashton hesitated, unsure if he was ready to open up to this enigmatic newcomer. But something about Lilith put him at ease.
"Yeah," he said, handing her his notebook. "I could use a lifeline."
Lilith's eyes sparkled as she began to explain complex concepts in simple terms. Ashton listened intently, feeling a connection he couldn't quite explain.
