Samaira was sitting in her office, her focus momentarily broken by the hushed yet audible whispers of her colleagues.

"Have you heard? Samaira is dating Ahaan Gill," one said.
"Of course, I heard! Imagine the influence she has now. Her dad's a famous cricketer, and her boyfriend is the son of a cricketing legend. She's set for life," another replied, their tone dripping with insinuation.
"She doesn't even need to work hard anymore. The connections alone will make her name."

Samaira's heart sank as their words cut through her. She clenched her fists, trying to ignore the sting, but their voices only grew louder in her mind. She had worked tirelessly to build her career, to carve out her own identity, and now, these baseless rumors threatened to overshadow everything she had accomplished.

Her phone buzzed on the desk. It was Ahaan calling. She stared at the screen, her chest tightening. She wanted to pick up, to hear his voice, but the weight of those hurtful words held her back. Her finger hovered over the answer button before she pressed decline.

Tears welled up in her eyes. She didn't want to shut him out—he hadn't done anything wrong. But she was tired of being reduced to someone's daughter, someone's girlfriend, someone who didn't deserve her own achievements. She wiped her tears hastily, her mind made up. She needed time to clear her head, to figure out how to handle this, and for now, that meant keeping her distance from Ahaan.

As the missed call notification flashed on her screen, Samaira whispered to herself, I'm sorry, Ahaan. I just need some time.

Ahaan frowned as his call went unanswered. He stared at his phone, puzzled. It wasn't like Samaira to ignore his calls, especially not after the great conversation they'd had the previous night. He dialed again, but it went straight to voicemail.

"She must be busy," he muttered to himself, trying to shake off the uneasy feeling creeping up on him.

Little did he know, Samaira was battling an internal storm, torn between her feelings for him and the harsh reality of others' opinions.

Ahaan couldn't shake the unsettling feeling. Samaira's sudden silence was unlike her, and he knew something was wrong. Determined to find out, he decided to visit her office unannounced.

When he arrived, Samaira was at her desk, lost in thought. She looked up as Ahaan entered, her expression shifting from surprise to discomfort.

"Ahaan? What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice laced with hesitation.

"I needed to see you. You've been ignoring my calls and texts. What's going on?" he asked, his concern evident.

Samaira stood up, crossing her arms as if to create a barrier. "There's nothing going on. I've just been busy," she said curtly.

Ahaan wasn't convinced. "Busy? You don't even respond to a simple text? Samaira, if something's bothering you, just tell me."

Her jaw tightened as she struggled to find the words. Finally, she took a deep breath and said, "Look, Ahaan, there's nothing between us. Whatever you think is happening...it's not. I need space. I want to be alone."
