Shubmanxishan
The tension in the room was palpable as Shubman Gill sat across from Ishan Kishan.
The two of them, usually the picture of harmony, were awkwardly quiet, stealing glances at one another as if the air between them was a hot potato.
Shubman's lips were set in a tight line, his fingers tapping impatiently on the table.
He had to remind himself that he hated Ishan, or at least, that's what he was trying to convince himself of.
"I'm just saying, Mayank is way too clingy with you," Shubman muttered, the words coming out harsher than he intended. "Why does he have to be around you all the time?"
Ishan, who had been looking at Shubman in confusion, blinked at him, the usual warmth in his gaze replaced by a slight frown.
"What are you talking about?" He couldn't hide the confusion in his voice, especially since he thought Shubman didn't care for him at all.
"I mean it," Shubman said, avoiding Ishan's gaze. "I don't get why he's always by your side. You two are practically attached at the hip."
"I don't know... He's my best friend, Shubman." Ishan let out a nervous chuckle. "We've been friends for years. That's what friends do, right?"
Shubman's eyes darkened, his jealousy making it hard for him to form coherent thoughts. "Yeah, sure. But it's weird. Like... I don't know, maybe he's just getting a little too comfortable around you."
He quickly crossed his arms, trying to mask his feelings, but his tone betrayed him. "You're always laughing together. Hanging out. I don't like it."
Ishan's heart skipped a beat. Was Shubman... jealous? But then the words he had heard Shubman say to him, the ones that cut the deepest, echoed in his mind: I hate you.
Ishan bit his lip, trying to hide the sting. "Well, if you hate me so much, then why does it matter?"
Shubman stiffened, the words hitting him like a punch to the gut.
He immediately regretted saying them, but before he could apologize, Ishan looked away, pretending not to care.
Meanwhile, across town, Mayank Markande was having a conversation with Abhishek Sharma at the local café, clearly enjoying the rare moments of downtime.
"So, you're really going to let Shubman keep pretending he hates Ishan, huh?" Mayank teased, sipping on his coffee.
Abhishek, leaning back in his chair, smirked. "Oh, I think Shubman's already got it bad for him. But sometimes, you've got to nudge the guy in the right direction, you know?"
Mayank chuckled. "Yeah, well, I think Shubman's biggest problem is that he's terrified of his own feelings."
"Well, you know what they say—jealousy is a very powerful motivator," Abhishek said, leaning forward with a glint of mischief in his eyes. "It's time to make Shubman realize he's got competition."
Back at Ishan's place, the situation had escalated. Mayank had shown up just in time to witness the tail end of Shubman's jealous rant.
"What's this I hear about you 'hating' Ishan?" Mayank asked, casually strolling into the room with a grin that made Shubman feel even more uncomfortable.
Shubman shifted uneasily in his seat. "I didn't—"
"Oh, no need to deny it." Mayank plopped down next to Ishan, throwing his arm around his shoulder. "I heard the whole thing. Shubman's jealous because we hang out too much, Ishan."
Ishan opened his mouth to protest but stopped himself when Mayank shot him a playful wink. "It's fine, Shubman," Mayank continued, "I know I can't compete with you."
"What?" Shubman spluttered, his heart racing. "I didn't say anything like that!"
"Sure you didn't," Mayank teased, leaning in closer to Ishan, just a little too comfortably. "Anyway, I was telling Ishan earlier how much fun it would be to take him out to dinner tonight. Just the two of us, you know?"
Ishan's face flushed bright red, his heart skipping a beat as he looked at Shubman, unsure of what to think.
But it was clear now—Mayank was intentionally trying to get under Shubman's skin. The real question was... Would it work?
Shubman clenched his jaw. "I'm not jealous," he insisted, though his voice cracked just a little. "I just think you're being a bit too clingy, that's all."
Mayank simply grinned wider, shooting a quick glance at Abhishek, who had entered the room unnoticed.
Abhishek raised an eyebrow at the scene before cracking a smile. "Looks like someone's got a crush," he teased.
Shubman glared at him. "I do not have a crush."
"Of course not," Abhishek replied, feigning innocence. "But someone's certainly acting like they do."
Mayank, not missing a beat, nudged Ishan with his elbow. "Look at Shubman. He's turning red."
Shubman had no idea why his heart was racing. "I'm not—"
But then he saw it: Ishan, laughing freely with Mayank, the two of them sharing a moment he thought only he could have with Ishan.
The feelings inside him intensified, and despite his frustration, Shubman felt something else—a sharp pang of longing.
Ishan turned to look at him, finally catching on. His expression softened, and for the first time in weeks, their eyes met and lingered.
Shubman finally exhaled, running a hand through his hair. "Fine, I'm jealous," he admitted, his voice barely a whisper.
Ishan's eyes lit up. "Wait, what?"
"I'm jealous," Shubman repeated, voice firming up. "But I don't hate you."
The room was silent for a moment as Ishan processed his words. Slowly, he stood up and walked over to Shubman.
"Then what do you feel for me?" Ishan asked, voice almost shy.
Shubman took a deep breath and finally let the walls fall. "I feel... this," he said, pulling Ishan into a kiss. It was simple, but it carried all the emotions he had been bottling up for so long.
Mayank and Abhishek exchanged a satisfied glance.
"Finally," Abhishek muttered.
Mayank grinned. "I told you it would work."
