diary of twyla alden.

"dear diary,

life can be very unfair,

does anyone even care?

how could my parents be so numb?

do they find me so dumb?

fixed my marriage with an oldie,

while i am so young, the world left to see.

ending this poem with much despair,

will life ever be fair?"

Twyla let out a tired breath as she wrote, or rather, scribbled on her diary. She was filled with mixed emotions, varying from confused to infuriated. She wanted to cry and let her feelings out, because in rich families, it's quite required to silently obey rules throughout to help out the family, just like the royal families.

Well, the rich do think of themselves as royal.

As to why Twyla was reacting this way, her parents had arranged her marriage with a 30 year old, infamous man, Astor Thornn, known amongst various fields for his bad temper and workaholic attitude. Twyla was only 20 years old, engulfed with responsibilities, forced into marriage. She had always been compelled to do what her parents wanted out of her. Having her dreams crushed, her fate sealed the day she was born. She had let go off of her deepest passion, poetry, the only thing that made her feel as if she was her own person. Now, she had to crush another dream of hers - "marrying someone for love, not for authority"

Twyla locked herself inside her room, crying as she continued scribbling on her diary. Her mother, Tynna Alden banged on her door repeatedly, "Listen to me, young lady, such behaviour is not permitted", she pauses, "Atleast not in this house", she continues. She lets out a sigh, "Come out this instant.", she sternly orders. Hearing no evident response from Twyla, she walks away from the door. "Fine. Be like that. I swear if you don't step outside, your father will be involved and you wouldn't like that.". Her footsteps echoes throughout the empty house. Empty house with void hearts.

As Twyla realizes her mother absence, her words, no, threat of her father getting involved hangs in the air. She gets off her bed, swiftly opening the door. She was scared of her own father, vulnerable. Her mother was right, she would not want her father to be involved, not when he has such high expectations from her, binding ties with - "The Thornns."

A playful smirk plays on Twyla's mother's lips realizing that her daughter had gave in. She stops and turns around, walking towards Twyla, grinning as her Louboutin heels stomp on the floor, echoing throughout the house. "Well my dear daughter, I knew you would not defy your precious family."

Twyla stands there, fingers clenched at her sides. Her mother embraces her in a cold, not warm, hug. Her mother was a cold and greedy woman. She caresses Twyla's hair, placing a soft kiss on her forehead.

"Afterall, you are the apparent pawn in our game of power."
