"How's it going, (Name)?" Silco asks while Jinx holds the needle dangerously close to his eye. A bird suddenly flies through the window, lands on your hair, and burrows into it.
"Everything is going as planned!" you say, opening your eyes.
"Tomorrow, we'll have another shipment of shimmer. I'll need your eyes again," Silco says, wincing in pain as Jinx presses the needle near his eye.
"Can I go?" Jinx asks, pulling the needle away and spinning it in her hands. "Sevika can take care of things if the Firelights attack."
"That brute?! Come on, Silco, I can handle this too!"
The older man sighs before finally agreeing. "Fine. Now, get back to your weapons."
Jinx lets out a happy scream before hopping off Silco's desk and bolting out of the room. Meanwhile, you stand up and look down at Silco.
"Can I go too?"
"You know very well, (Name), that you can't," he replies firmly.
"I know, I know," you sigh, leaning your head on your knee. "It's just that staying stuck here is so boring! Jinx gets to go out and blow stuff up, and I'm just... here. I'm starting to feel a little useless."
"It's only for your protection. You know there are people out there after your head. I can't lose you," Silco insists.
"But I can take care of myself! And you let Jinx go!"
"Jinx knows how to fight, and no one's after her head."
You let out another sigh, visibly upset. You reach for a clock sitting on the desk and hold it against your chest. "You know I'm just trying to protect you. Now, may I borrow your eyes?" Silco says calmly.
You close your eyes, taking a deep breath, before relenting. "Fine."
Small birds begin to emerge from your hair, flying out through the window, leaving only one asleep at your side.
"I won't let the topsiders get their hands on my ace in the hole," Silco mutters under his breath.
......
"Well, well, if it isn't sweet and precious Mel~," a saccharine voice echoed as the tall woman turned toward the sound. The girl, dressed in an elegant ice-blue dress, smiled as she approached. "(You)... what are you doing here? I thought you'd be with your brother..."
You chuckled, stepping closer with a playful grin. "Oh, I'm just keeping an eye out, especially after your daring little move of adding that boy, Tails, to the Council." You circled Mel, your robotic ice-blue eyes scanning her. "It was quite an unexpected decision, defying the rules we laid upon you."
"I know I should have sought permission before adding another seat to the Council," Mel admitted, her voice steady. "But with everything happening with Hextech, it was the right call to include him!"
You let out a sly laugh, hopping up to sit on a nearby ledge, gazing down at the presentation below. "I just hope you're not doing this out of... sentimentality."
"Don't worry," she replied, her tone resolute. "Everything is under control. There's nothing your family needs to interfere with. I promise I'm not letting my emotions cloud my judgment."
You hopped off the ledge, landing gracefully, and approached her, locking eyes with an intense gaze. "I'm watching. Let's hope I won't be disappointed. Oh, and my little brother sends his regards to the Council!"
Laughing, you stepped back, putting on your mask and melting into the shadows. Moments later, Jayce arrived, glancing at Mel, who now seemed deep in thought. "You called for me, Councilor Medarda? It's been a while since I've been here," he remarked, his gaze drifting toward the presentation below.
"We're not here for the presentation," Mel replied, handing him a glass. Her eyes flicked momentarily to the far side of the theater, where she caught a glimpse of you standing beside a dark shadow, smiling at her knowingly before disappearing.
"Your house is in danger," she added, her voice quiet but firm.
