The room was heavy with silence as Mingyu stood before Jeonghan and Seungcheol, his face pale and strained. He had come to them with a warning, but there was still so much more to uncover.

"I need to tell you something, but you won't like it," Mingyu's voice broke the silence. He had been standing outside the door for what seemed like forever, his hand lingering on the handle as though unsure whether to walk in or walk away.

Jeonghan raised an eyebrow, sensing the weight of the situation. "Mingyu, just spit it out. We don't have time to play games."

Seungcheol, leaning against the desk, folded his arms, his expression unreadable. He could tell Mingyu was holding something back, something important. But what?

Mingyu finally stepped into the room, his eyes darting to the floor before locking onto Seungcheol and Jeonghan. He took a breath, trying to steady himself. "There's a pattern to all of this. All these killings. It's not random. Someone is controlling it all, someone who's been watching you both."

Jeonghan's heart skipped. "Who?"

Mingyu hesitated, his gaze flicking to the door, as if expecting someone to burst through it. "I don't know exactly, but I've been tracking the information—there's one name that keeps coming up in the reports. A name that doesn't belong to anyone we've been chasing."

"Who?" Seungcheol repeated, his voice tight with frustration.

"Jang Suho," Mingyu said in a low whisper. "You've heard of him, right? The businessman with ties to all the crime syndicates?"

Jeonghan's jaw clenched. He knew that name. Jang Suho wasn't just a businessman—he was one of the most elusive criminals in their city. An enigma wrapped in wealth and influence. A man whose reach stretched into every corner of the underworld.

"I know him," Jeonghan muttered, his eyes darkening. "But why would he be involved in these murders?"

Mingyu swallowed hard, as if he was reluctant to continue. "That's what I don't understand. But I know he's been pulling strings from behind the scenes. I've been tracking his movements, and—" He stopped, his voice dropping to a dangerous whisper. "He knows you're on to him. He's playing you like a game."

Seungcheol stepped forward, the tension in the room palpable. "So what, he's just sitting back while we chase ghosts?"

Mingyu nodded, his voice tight. "Exactly. And now, he knows your next move. He's got eyes everywhere. You have to be careful. All the leads you've been following have been carefully planted. The killer has been one step ahead of you the whole time."

Jeonghan clenched his fists at his sides, his mind working in overdrive. "If he's been watching us this whole time, then he knows about..."

"The girl," Mingyu finished, his voice soft but filled with meaning.

The mention of their daughter—so precious to them, the one thing they would do anything to protect—sent a chill down Jeonghan's spine. He turned to Seungcheol, who had gone completely still, his face a mask of calmness that Jeonghan knew all too well meant danger was close.

"Dammit," Seungcheol muttered. "He's using her against us. We can't let him get to her. We can't let him think for a second that we're backing down."

Mingyu's eyes met theirs with a cold, almost resigned look. "He's already gotten to her, hasn't he? He's been planning this for months, and you've been too focused on the murders to see the bigger picture."

Jeonghan's pulse quickened. "What do you mean? What bigger picture?" His mind raced, the weight of Mingyu's words sinking in.

Mingyu stepped closer, dropping his voice to a whisper. "He's not just playing with your investigation. He's playing with your family. And the moment you get too close to the truth, he'll make sure you pay for it."

Seungcheol's jaw clenched, his eyes flashing with fury. "If he lays a finger on her—"

Jeonghan reached out and touched Seungcheol's arm, grounding him. "We'll do this together. We won't let him win." He turned back to Mingyu. "What else do you know? Tell us everything."

Mingyu hesitated but then spoke, his voice tinged with regret. "I've been tracking his moves. Suho's had eyes on you, on your family, for weeks. And the thing is, he knows your next steps. I'm trying to get more information, but you have to move fast."

Seungcheol's gaze hardened, his mind already shifting into strategy mode. "I'm not leaving without getting answers."

Jeonghan's phone buzzed. He glanced at it, and his stomach dropped. The text was brief, but it carried the weight of a threat that would never be ignored.

"You're closer than you think. But your time is running out."

It was from an unknown number, but Jeonghan knew the message was meant for them. It was a warning, and the implication was clear: the killer was getting closer to the ones they loved most.

Seungcheol clenched his fists, his voice low and dangerous. "We're ending this tonight. We'll take the fight to him."

Mingyu stepped back, his face etched with concern. "Be careful. He won't hesitate to hurt those closest to you."

Jeonghan met Mingyu's gaze, his expression resolute. "We've been careful this whole time. But we won't make the same mistake again." He turned to Seungcheol, giving him a small, determined smile. "We'll protect her. Together."

The four men exchanged glances, the bond between them stronger than ever as they prepared to confront the monster lurking just out of reach. The storm was coming, but they were ready to face it head-on.

As they left the room, their footsteps were synchronized, the weight of their responsibility heavier than ever. They were walking into a web of deceit—one they had to untangle before it consumed them all.

But one thing was certain: they weren't backing down. Not now, not ever.
