Alarms and sirens shrieked throughout the cockpit as alert symbols covered the dashboard. Her Finch-34 Jet was barreling down to the field below with only one operational engine. Her heart raced as she tried her best to activate the onboard diagnostics and repair system but the panic induced trembles in her limbs made it impossible for her to press anything in a sequence. Her nerves jolted with energy as she knew trying to save her jet would only assure her death, so as her heart beat through her chest, she frantically located the buttons to activate the seat ejection sequence while the inevitable release of death approached her ever so swiftly.
After activating the sequence, she pulled the lever from the bottom of her seat but nothing happened. She then screamed and yelled as she repeatedly pulled the lever in hopes to at least loosen her seat, all the while the alarms and sirens still blared throughout the cockpit, deafening her. As she tried to activate the sequence again, she started to feel weak and disoriented as if everything was just out of reach. She pulled the lever one last time with what little energy she had left but nothing happened. Tears rolled down her face as she sat back down in what was now a coffin, fully consumed by the hopelessness and fatigue set in by the g-force and dread of the situation.
Only when she glanced out of the cockpit, she then realized how fast the jet was rolling. She had no time to react with any emotion, with the remaining energy she had in her body, she loosely gripped the center stick and leaned her body opposite to the way the jet was spinning. After what seemed like forever, the jet became steady and she was able to think straight. Upon realizing her altitude, without a second thought she used her entire body weight and pulled the center stick back.
She screamed and her life flashed before her eyes. An intense feeling of sorrow overcame her as tears flowed down her face while she reminisced about her home and the time she spent in the academy. The birthdays and road trips she would go on with her mom and sister, the sunsets and starry nights she would spend with her friends from the academy, the neighbors dogs barking you would always hear in the background while at home and the mundane chores like laundry and mowing the lawn. She cherished these memories and while she was happy with them, she wanted to live. But in life, we don't always get what we want.
