Sophie reformed outside the Sores of Solace, taking a deep breath before knocking on the door. The door creaked open just a sliver and Keefe's face pecked out; it looked like he had been crying.

"Foster?" He asked, his voice was weak. Sophie winced at how sad he seemed,

"Can I come in? We need to talk," she replied. He looked around his shoulder.

"I'll come out. Daddio will eavesdrop if you come in." With that, he pushed past her and strode towards the beach. She rushed after him.

They didn't speak for a while; the silence digging into Sophie as they walked beside the crashing waves. Eventually, Keefe broke the silence.

"Why?" He said. It was barely a whisper. Sophie furrowed her brow and was slightly upset when he didn't reach up and smooth the crinkle on her forehead, like he always did.

"Why what?" She replied.

"Why didn't you break up with me ages ago? That way it would've been way easier for you to kiss Fitz," Sophie stopped walking,

"Wow, you really believe that I would do something like that, don't you?"

"I don't need to believe it, I saw it!" Sophie took a step back, surprised at how angry Keefe was, "For the entire time I've known you, I've wanted to be with you! But then you fell for Fitz, and I had to watch him break your heart! I had to be a good friend to you. I had to pretend I didn't like you. I had to feel your emotions when you were around him and pretend not to be upset! And then, after all of that, you finally consider me! I was finally happy! And then I find out that you did all that because you pitied me! Now I look like the bad guy for forcing you to be with me when you wanted to be with... Him!" Tears were streaming down his face now, and Sophie could feel her eyes burning.

"Keefe! Don't do this! I swear nothing happened! He's a jerk! I will do anything to prove that . . that-"

"That what? What exactly do you need to prove?"

"That I love you!" She didn't mean to say it, it just came out. She cursed herself for not waiting longer like she had planned. Keefe's face went slack.

"W-What?" He stuttered. Sophie winced. She couldn't stop now. Ignoring her racing thoughts, Sophie stepped forward. Adrenaline and nerves making her reckless.

"I love you," she whispered, before meeting her lips with his. He took a step back before pulling away,

"I - Sophie? Sophie I- I'm . . ." His voice trailed off, tears where flowing down his face. But Sophie could tell he wasn't sad, he was just overwhelmed. "I love you too." Then he leaned in and kissed her right back.
