''You're a captain? Pathetic.''

"WHAT IF WE JUST SKIP THE REST OF THE EVENTS?" Demetri suggested thoughtfully, staring at the ceiling above his bed. "Hit up Las Ramblas, grab some churros, and call it a day?"

Hawk, leaning against the wall on the other side of the room, narrowed his eyes. "What? You're already giving up on the tournament?"

"Okay, let's be realistic here. There's no way we're winning. At this point, I'd rather not lose any more brain cells."

Hawk rolled his eyes. "Oh my god, dude, we get it—you're going to MIT. I'll make sure to send them an update about your rank-ass farts."

"Nah, nah, that was not me," Demetri said defensively, sitting up.

Hawk shrugged, smirking. "I'm just saying, whoever denied it supplied it."

Demetri mimicked him in a mocking tone, earning another eye roll. Eli looked past him at Gabriel and Miguel, who were sitting silently, lost in their thoughts.

"Yo, Gabby, Miguel, you good?" Eli asked, snapping them out of their daze. "You guys fought really well today."

"Thanks, bro." Miguel sighed, shaking his head. "I'm good, but I don't know about Robby, man. Something's off. He's not fighting the same."

"He's probably still bummed about Tory being on Cobra Kai," Eli said, crossing his arms.

"Well, he needs to get over it," Miguel replied, frustration lacing his tone. "At this rate, it won't matter if we advance, because he's the one fighting for us in the finals. We're screwed."

Eli nodded. "I don't know if it means anything, but I think one of you guys should've been captain."

"It's true, yeah," Demetri chimed in, rubbing his eyes tiredly.

The conversation came to an abrupt halt as they heard the shower turn off. Moments later, Robby emerged, a towel wrapped around his waist, water dripping from his hair. The group fell silent, their attention snapping to him, making Robby frown in confusion.

"What?" he asked, glancing between them.

"Nothing," Demetri said quickly, waving his hands. "We were just cracking the cold case of who cut the cheese last night." He shot Eli a pointed look. "And, as we all know, whoever smelt it dealt it."

Eli flipped him off without hesitation. Demetri smirked, returning the gesture with exaggerated flair.

Gabriel got up from the bed, walking out of the room with his bag with him. Gabriel stepped into the hallway, his bag slung over his shoulder, when Zara appeared from around the corner. They nearly collided, her quick reflexes stopping them just short.

"Whoa," Zara said with a smirk, taking a step back. "Didn't think I'd run into you—literally."

Gabriel chuckled, adjusting the strap on his bag. "Guess we're both quick on our feet."
