But even in the face of this unrelenting torment, Muzammil refuses to bow to despair. Though the world around him seems to be closing in, though the weight of betrayal presses down upon his shoulders, a flicker of defiance burns within him. The poison that Laiba and Maham have poured into the hearts of those around him may have taken root, but it has not yet claimed his spirit. With each passing day, Muzammil learns to endure, to survive. And perhaps, just perhaps, there is still a way for him to escape the suffocating grip of their cruelty.
