Nidhi's POV

I sat on the plush couch, the familiar hum of the apartment enveloping me, sipping on the remnants of my cold latte. My packed suitcases lined up neatly by the door felt surreal—everything I owned, everything I built, compressed into those few bags. I stared at the walls that had seen my joys, tears, laughter, and love over the last four years.

Sadhana sat across from me, her fingers tracing idle patterns on her mug, while Shubman leaned casually against the kitchen counter, his phone in one hand and an apple in the other. Their presence filled the room with warmth, and yet, my heart ached knowing this was my last day here with them.

"So, Nidhi," Sadhana's voice broke through my spiraling thoughts, "how are the wedding preparations going?"

I placed my latte down and smiled, trying to shake off the melancholia. "Chaotic," I admitted, chuckling softly. "The guest list seems endless, the caterers want constant approvals, and don't even get me started on my mom's obsession with the floral arrangements."

Shubman grinned, taking a bite of his apple. "Welcome to wedding life. It's the warm-up act for marriage, trust me. You think it's stressful now, wait till you have to navigate a joint family." He winked at Sadhana, who playfully elbowed him.

Sadhana rolled her eyes but turned her attention back to me. "Nevian's been handling it well, hasn't he? He seems like the type who's got everything under control."

I nodded. "He is. Sometimes I think he's more invested in the details than I am. But then again, that's Nevian—meticulous about everything."

A small silence fell between us, not awkward, but heavy with the unspoken. The realization that I was leaving, truly leaving, was sinking in for all of us.

Sadhana's lips curved into a soft smile. "You're going to be so happy with him, Nidhi. I can see it already."

Before I could reply, the sound of footsteps in the hallway made my heart skip. Nevian's commanding presence filled the space before he even entered. When the door opened, there he stood, his broad shoulders clad in a tailored black suit, his sharp jawline set in its usual serious demeanor.

"Time to go?" I asked softly, my voice faltering.

He nodded, his attractive brown eyes softening just a fraction as they met mine. "Yes, love. Are you ready?"

I wasn't. Not really.

Sadhana shot up from her seat, pulling me into a bone-crushing hug before I could process anything else. "You're leaving me," she whispered, her voice trembling.

I clung to her, burying my face in her shoulder as the sob I had been holding back escaped. "I'm not leaving you. Never you. This apartment, maybe, but not you."

She sniffled, pulling back slightly to look at me. Her brown eyes glistened with unshed tears, and for a moment, we both stood there, wordless, hands clutching each other as if letting go would be the real goodbye.
