Parents' Room:
Meena sat at the edge of the bed, her hands folded in her lap, her expression thoughtful yet determined. Vikram Rathore stood near the dresser, removing his watch and placing it carefully on the tray.
Meena(calmly): "Vikram ji, Apne Aarushi ko dekha? Woh ladki bilkul waise hi hai jaise humne socha tha. Sanskari, samajhdar, aur sabse zaruri baat—usme ek shanti hai jiski is ghar mein aur Rudra ki zindagi mein bohat zarurat hai."
Vikram turned to face her, his expression neutral but his tone cautious.
Vikram: "Haan, Aarushi achhi ladki hai. Lekin tumhe pata hai, Meena, Rudra ke liye kisi ko accept karna aasaan nahi hoga. Woh ladka apne jazbaat ko kabhi dikhata nahi, aur uska gussa toh tum jaanti ho aur main nhi chata ki hamari vajya se kesi ki jindagi kharab ho."
Meena straightened, her tone firm.
Meena: "Mujhe Rudra ke gusse ki parwah nahi. Woh mera beta hai, aur mujhe pata hai ki vo dill ka bohat accha hai, kabhi kabhi uska gussa sirf uski akeli zindagi ka nateeja hota hai. Uske liye ek saathi hona zaruri hai. Aarushi uske liye perfect hai. Ek samajhdar aur shant ladki jo uski zindagi mein ek balance laa sake."
Vikram frowned slightly, crossing his arms.
Vikram: "Lekin Meena, kya tumhe lagta hai Rudra yeh baat maanega? Tum jaanti ho usne chahe ye fainsla ham par shoda hai lekin uski marzi ke khilaf kuch bhi karna aasaan nahi hai."
Meena's lips curled into a knowing smile.
Meena: "Woh jo bhi kahe, uski zarurat wohi hai jo hum soch rahe hain. Shaadi ke baad Aarushi uski zindagi ka hissa banegi, chahe woh abhi samjhe ya na samjhe. Mujhe pata hai ki woh ladki iss ghar ki bahu aur ek rani banne ke layak hai."
Vikram remained quiet for a moment, then sighed.
Vikram: "Aur Aarushi vo iss shaadi ke liye man jaye gi?"
Meena: "Haan hame bus Vijay aur Neelam ko manna pdga. Jitna hame pta hai Aarushi apne parents ko kabhi mna nhi kr paye gi . Aur Yeh rista to hame fix karna hi hoga. Aarushi Rudra ki zindagi mein woh shanti laa sakti hai jo Rudra ke andar ke tufaan ko khatam karegi."
Vikram: " To phir thik hai kal shubhe Rudra se bat krke ham sidha Vijay ke ghar Rishta leke jaye ge."
Author POV:
The cool night breeze swept through the balcony, carrying the faint scent of jasmine from the garden below. Rudra Rathore sat on a sleek, black chair, his laptop open on the small table in front of him. His focus was sharp as his fingers moved across the keyboard, the faint glow of the screen reflecting off his stoic face.
The world was silent around him, just as he preferred it. Work was his escape, his order in an otherwise chaotic existence. But tonight, despite the calm, his thoughts were unusually restless.
He leaned back in his chair, his gaze briefly shifting to the dark horizon. The dinner from earlier played in his mind, uninvited. Aarushi's sudden presence after so many years had been... unexpected. Her image was clear—dressed simply, her quiet demeanor radiating an unassuming confidence. It wasn't her appearance that surprised him; it was the fact that after all these years, she hadn't changed much. That same calmness in her eyes, the same simplicity in her behavior. But what unsettled him most was how she seemed unaffected by the weight of opulence around her, unlike most people who got swayed by the luxury.
Rudra frowned, tapping his fingers lightly on the table as he tried to redirect his thoughts back to his work. But the memory of her sitting quietly at the dinner table, speaking softly when spoken to, kept creeping back.
"Itne saalon baad achanak yeh family dinner?" he thought, his eyes narrowing. "Aur yeh Aarushi... kya zarurat thi uske yahan bulane ki?"
He picked up his phone, scrolling through emails, forcing his mind to refocus. Yet, despite his efforts, the image of her lingered. It annoyed him. Shaking his head, he closed the laptop and leaned back in his chair, staring up at the night sky. His expression turned cold again, his thoughts shifting to his parents' behavior during the evening.
"Maa aur Papa... unki baton se clear tha. Yeh dinner sirf ek dinner nahi tha," he thought bitterly. He could see through their plans. His mother's subtle compliments about Aarushi, his father's careful questions about her life—it was all too obvious.
He let out a sharp exhale, his tone icy even in his thoughts. "Shaadi ke baare mein soch rahe hain kya yeh log. Aarushi ko meri life mein laane ki koshish kar rahe hain."
His jaw tightened. The idea of anyone invading his perfectly controlled life was intolerable. He didn't need a companion, didn't want one. Feelings, relationships—those were luxuries he had no interest in.
Looking back at the estate below, his gaze grew colder. "Jo bhi plan hai Maasa –Pitaji ka, main use pura nahi hone dunga."
But as much as he told himself that, the flicker of surprise he'd felt at seeing Aarushi after so long refused to fade. He clenched his fists, pushing the thought aside. Emotions were weaknesses, and Rudra Rathore never allowed himself to be weak.
He got up, his steps firm and deliberate as he walked back into his room. The night was quiet again.
