I'm so sorry, guys. I feel crappy about doing this--really I do.
But the story I started writing here just turned into a different story. Even as I was posting it, I realized--this actually ISN'T a slushpile story. It's a story I like quite a lot, with the capability of having quite a lot to it.
So I started editing it, changing things, adding new things, changing around the ending. By the time I was done, the way I ended this story was so different from the (unedited) stuff I'd posted here that, well, it was a different story entirely.
So I published it, as a complete novel. Now, Amazon's making me keep a price on it-- .99, if you absolutely must have it from Amazon--but I didn't feel right about putting a price on something I'd shared almost all the way to the end on here. So, if you want to see how the story ends, and read the new and improved version, it's FREE on Smashwords. Apparently, can't actually make a link here, but the URL at least:
https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/561669
Again, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be poopy. It just sort of happened. Free peace offering? Eh?
If you're just absolutely dying to know how the story ends, and for some reason you can't deal with Smashwords, message me and we'll figure something out. Like I said, I feel pretty bad about this.
