Jennie's POV
Back in my office, I tried to distract myself by rescheduling my meetings. My workload was piling up, but I knew I needed to prioritize my father's case above everything else. I assigned Frederic to take over my responsibilities, trusting him to handle things in my absence.
Yet, Lisa's antics were hard to ignore. She had stationed her men in my building, as if anticipating I might sneak off to the library without her.
I chuckled softly to myself, amused and a little exasperated. Her men were an interesting bunch. Their intimidating tattoos and stoic faces belied their surprisingly respectful attitudes. I guess I had misjudged them.
As I shuffled some papers, I heard the door to my office open. My head snapped up, and there she was—Lisa.
"Lisa..." I said, genuinely surprised. "What happened to resting?"
She smirked, leaning casually against the doorframe. "I slept like a baby the whole night. That's rest, isn't it?"
I shook my head, unimpressed. "Let me see the stitch."
Her smirk deepened, a playful glint in her eyes. "You just want to see my abs, don't you?"
I froze, my face heating up at her bold comment. I hadn't thought about it, but now that she mentioned it, I couldn't help but notice. She did have toned abs—impressively so.
I quickly shook my head, brushing the thought away. "Never mind. Go let someone else dress it," I said, trying to sound firm.
But Lisa wasn't having it. She grabbed a chair and dragged it over, plopping herself down in front of me with an air of defiance. She placed a small bag on the desk between us and leaned back, crossing her arms.
"Seth said everything you need to dress my wound is in there," she said, her tone matter-of-fact.
I sighed, setting my pen down and pushing my chair back. There was no escaping her.
Opening the bag, I found the necessary supplies: antiseptic, gauze, and bandages. I looked at Lisa, who had already rolled up her shirt, revealing her midsection. The stitched-up gash from the previous night looked raw, but thankfully, it wasn't bleeding.
"Hold still," I instructed, pulling on a pair of gloves.
She tilted her head, watching me with a faint grin as I started to clean the area around the wound. I ignored her gaze, focusing on my task.
Using a sterile pad, I dabbed the antiseptic carefully around the stitches. Lisa didn't flinch, but I noticed her muscles tense under my touch.
"This might sting," I said, meeting her eyes briefly.
"I've been through worse," she replied with a shrug.
I didn't doubt that. Still, I worked meticulously, ensuring the wound was cleaned properly before applying fresh gauze and securing it with a bandage.
"All done," I said, stepping back and removing my gloves.
Lisa lowered her shirt and leaned back in her chair, her smirk returning. "That wasn't so bad, was it, Doctor Kim?"
I rolled my eyes and returned to my desk. "I still don't trust you," I said bluntly, crossing my arms.
Lisa raised a brow, her expression unreadable. "What's there not to trust?"
"I don't know what your motive is," I admitted. "Being all... nice to me. Going out of your way to help."
Her smirk faded, and she shook her head. "No motive, Madame," she said softly. "I'm just your bodyguard."
