Third Person's Pov
The first snowfall of the year had blanketed the city in white, transforming it into a winter wonderland. The house was enveloped in peaceful silence, the kind that only came late at night when the world seemed to pause. The soft ticking of the clock filled the air as Jia and Jungwon sat together on the living room couch. A faint glow from the fireplace illuminated their faces, casting a cozy warmth around them.
Jia leaned against Jungwon, her hand resting on her growing belly. She was due any day now, and the excitement of welcoming their second child mingled with the calm of the moment. Jungwon’s fingers brushed through her hair as they spoke in hushed tones, reminiscing about the first time they became parents.
“Do you remember how panicked I was when Shion was born?” Jungwon asked, his voice filled with fondness.
Jia chuckled, her laughter soft and soothing. “I remember you calling the nurse for every little thing. You even asked them to check if his swaddle was too tight.”
Jungwon let out a low laugh, leaning down to kiss her temple. “Well, I wasn’t going to take any chances. And I won’t this time, either. You and the baby are my everything.”
Jia smiled, her hand covering his. The bond between them felt unshakable, an unspoken promise of love and support.
The moment was interrupted by the sudden vibration of Jungwon’s phone on the coffee table. His relaxed expression shifted to one of concern when he saw the caller ID: Mr. Kwon, his secretary.
“It’s late,” Jia murmured, her brows furrowing slightly.
“It must be important,” Jungwon replied, picking up the call. He put it on speaker as he answered, “Mr. Kwon, what’s going on?”
The urgency in Mr. Kwon’s voice was evident. “Mr. Yang, I apologize for disturbing you, but a scandal has surfaced online. Someone is claiming that you are cheating on your pregnant wife with a popular model. Photos of your meeting with Miss Kylie Minogue in September have been leaked, and malicious posts are circulating. We’ve already begun damage control, but the situation is escalating. It seems someone tried to sell the story to media outlets, and when they were denied, they posted it online themselves.”
Jungwon’s hand tightened around the phone, his jaw clenching. His eyes darted to Jia, who had already picked up her own phone to search for the posts. As her expression changed, her eyes widening in disbelief and glossing over, Jungwon felt his heart drop.
“Jia, I—” He ended the call hastily, telling Mr. Kwon to handle the situation and update him immediately. Turning to Jia, he clutched her hands tightly, his voice trembling with urgency. “It’s not true. None of it is true. You have to believe me, Jia. I would never—”
Jia’s silence made him panic. Tears welled up in his eyes as he shook his head repeatedly. “Please, Jia. Don’t doubt me. Don’t think I’d ever hurt you or our family. You’re my everything—our family is my everything!”
Jia’s heart broke seeing the fear in his eyes. She understood why he was so distressed but was more upset about the world’s cruelty than the rumors themselves. She could never doubt Jungwon. His unwavering love and devotion to her were known to everyone who knew him.
