As the party showed no signs of winding down, my mom, the two moms exchanged a knowing glance, and Aunt Nolu called out to us.

"Girls, can you please get your bags? It's already 12 pm, and we don't want to be late."

Smelo and I rushed upstairs, excitement building up inside us. We had no idea where we were going for the weekend getaway, and the suspense was killing us.

We grabbed our bags, unwrapped gifts, and a few last-minute essentials and hurried back downstairs. The partygoers, still in high spirits, bid us farewell as we made our way out.

"Now it's time for the real fun!!" Aunt Nolu teased, winking at us.

Smelo and I exchanged a thrilled glance. We couldn't wait to find out where our mystery weekend getaway would take us.

With our bags loaded into the car, we set off with our moms, leaving the party and its lingering music behind.

As we drove to wherever we were driving to, my mom behind the wheel, the atmosphere in the car was electric. Smelo pulled out her iPhone 11 and started taking videos of us singing along to R&B songs. We belted out the lyrics to "Birds of Feather" by Billie Eilish:
