Chapter 7 - Fixing broken hearts (Ash)

Halloween, the day of the party. My thoughts traced back to the last party. My first month and a half in this town leading up to that day.

It was my first kiss with Serena, on this day. I sighed and got up out bed. The afternoon had already began to roll in and I had just woken up. Serena was my everything up until the moment she kissed Calem. I had feelings for her still, even now but I knew that whatever happened, I would never feel the same.

Two weeks ago I decided to take some time away from the group. Today was the day, a perfect day to reunite and forgive Serena. Calem would be there too. I still had another score to settle with him so he better stay quiet.

The day dragged on ever so slowly. It became 2pm and I became restless. I decided to go for a run to clear my head.

Halfway down the road, someone started jogging next to me.

"Yo, Ash" I heard Gary's voice over my shoulder for the first time in two weeks "So, erm. You are coming tonight, right?" I nodded but didn't speak. My answer was crystal clear.

"Lots has happened while you decided to take some time away. For example, Kenny and Dawn had a fight. She never stops going on about how you're horrible to Serena. I think she wants some sort of revenge. Kenny disagreed and they had an argument" I felt a little guilty. Seperating with Serena potentially ruined another relationship.

"Also, Calem is back. We don't talk to him much and I think he knows that we know" I looked interestingly at Gary.

"I will settle that with him in my own time" I said calmly "I have a few things that need sorting out tonight. Like Serena"

Gary waited for a moment before he began to talk. "So you're going to ask her out again?"

I nodded at his reply "I can't deny my feelings for her, even though what she did is unforgivable. I don't this dispute to run on any longer" He grinned and patted me on the back.

"That's the Ash I know!" He turned left and waved "See you tonight"

I turned and smiled "You too!" I entered my house and smiled. Having that run was the best idea of my life.

I got my costume out. This year, Cilan showed me a show called Attack on Titan. I was dressing as the armoured titan and he was dressing as the colossal titan. After all he was now 6 ft 3 and I was 5 ft 10.

I got into my costume and went to Cilans. His mom done face paint for us both and my hair was died in a dirty blonde colour. In the correct light, my hair looked kind of grey.

By the time we arrived at the party, everyone was already inside. It was like deja vu. The whole house was bouncing with loud, upbeat music and there must have been half of the 10th grade in here.

We went to the room our group stayed in and everything went quiet when I walked in.

"Ash!" Drew shouted. He jumped off the counter he was sat on and came over. I gave him a fistbump before replicating an explosion.

Kenny and Gary came over and we all began talking.

"Long time no see!" Kenny said, patting me on the back.

"Good to see you made it" Gary said with a huge grin on his face.

"I am glad to see you guys too!" I was relieved to finally be back with the gang.

We joined the rest of the group and I asked Dawn if we could talk in private.

We stepped to one side.

"Listen, I know you are angry. But be happy with Kenny, ok? Gary filled me in. Don't let my actions ruin your relationship" Dawn smiled.

"Thanks, Ash. I see why Serena likes you so much" She slowly walked off, after this.

After another hour, I took Serena outside.

We sat side by side in awkward silence, just like we did last year.

"Serena, I want us to start again" I nervously spoke out into the night.

She turned her head and smiled, that beautiful smile "I would like that"

"I am Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town" I smiled nervously.

"I am Serena Yvonne. Nice to meet you Ash" She giggle a little bit and I smiled again.

"Well, Miss Yvonne. I love you"

Serena leaned in and buried her head against my chest, her arms around my shoulders. I put my arm around her and stroked her soft hair.

"I love you too, Mr. Ketchum" at that moment, a tear fell from my eye.

Everything was slowly becoming the same again. It was perfect.
