Preface

Have you ever felt so numb that you couldn't feel anything at all? 

Did you ever just want to close your eyes, sleep, and just dream - and dream; of days when you weren't all alone, of days when you were happy, of days that everything you ever wanted was there?

All that I ever knew was gone. I lost things I never really had.

And I lost myself.

And I almost lost my breath and the beating of my heart.

There was this girl always lost on her thoughts, drowning in the screaming voices in her head. They screamed how she wasn't good enough, how she was a failure, how unloved she was, and how there was no way out.

That girl was me.

The scars on my arms, the scars on my wrists, all the scars I had were a reminder of this.

My name is Serena, and this is my story.

It's just a spark, but I promise - even in the dark, it keeps glowing.
