Author POV

Two days had passed, and Amelia was slowly recovering physically, with him and his family taking utmost care of her. Once in the afternoon, they sat together in the living room, the air calm and quiet. Amelia's eyes wandered to the staircase as Edward descended from the room upstairs. She had never been inside that room as it was always locked, piquing her curiosity. Her gaze lingered on Edward, struck by how different he looked today, dressed sharply in a suit. Emmanuel noticed him too and quipped, "Finally made up your mind to go to the company, huh?"

Edward’s expression, however, gave away his reluctance. His piercing eyes remained fixed on Amelia, silently conveying his hesitance. He didn’t want to leave her, but the weight of his responsibilities, with critical projects demanding his attention, couldn’t be ignored.

Emmanuel handed Sophia a document related to the project. She excused herself, leaving with Emmanuel to give Edward and Amelia some privacy.

Edward walked straight to Amelia without a word. To her surprise, he scooped her up effortlessly, causing her slipper to fall to the ground, and settled her on the sofa. Before she could react, he made her stand again, leaving her wide-eyed in confusion. Without explanation, he handed her his favorite tie.

"Help me" he said simply, his deep voice unwavering.

Amelia hesitated but took the tie from his hand. Slowly and nervously, she began tying it for him, though her mind was racing. She couldn't understand why he had asked her to do this or why she was even doing it. Edward’s gaze remained unbroken, his eyes fixed on hers with an intensity that made her heart race.

When she finished tying the knot, he handed her the tie pin. She carefully pinned it in place, feeling his steady gaze on her every move.

As soon as she was done, Edward spoke, his tone firm yet tender, "Don’t run around, your foot is still recovering. Eat lunch with Mom and Dad, and don’t forget your medicine. That medicine will make you sleepy, so go to the room and rest afterward. If you need anything, tell the others. And if something happens, there are phones in the mansion just call me. Understood dear?" He said it all in one breath, leaving Amelia stunned.

Her eyes widened at his concern and the affectionate way he spoke. "Your eyes will pop out baby" he teased with a small smile.
Amelia was speechless.

"Did you hear what I said?" he asked again.
"Ye-yeah," she stammered, unsure how to process the moment.

Edward smiled, a rare, genuine smile that made Amelia's heart race uncontrollably. It was a look that softened his usual stern demeanor, and she couldn’t help but be captivated. With one last glance at her, he turned and walked away, heading to work.

Amelia slowly stepped down from the sofa, her gaze following him until he disappeared from sight. A strange, inexplicable feeling washed over her, leaving her rooted in place. Her heart seemed to understand something her mind couldn’t grasp.

How could a man, a stranger not too long ago, towering at six feet get so close to her, stir her emotions so deeply, and make her heart skip a beat? The confusion lingered, a delicate battle between her heart and her mind that left her questioning everything.

Mr. Abbott entered the office, his presence calm yet commanding. Inside, only Edward and Ben were seated, their expressions reflecting a mix of focus and urgency as they awaited his arrival.

Mr. Abbott entered the room and greeted Edward with a formal nod. Edward, seated at his desk, leaned forward slightly, his curiosity evident. "Found something?" he asked, his tone sharp and direct.
