🖤 DHRUV 🖤

After what Esha said, the silence that followed felt thick, suffocating, as though the weight of her words lingered between us, pressing down on the air.

I stood there, my chest tight, my mind a whirlpool of thoughts. It was the kind of silence that doesn't bring comfort but instead makes you acutely aware of everything left unsaid, of the space between you and the one you care for, filled with unspoken fears and regrets.

Then, finally, I spoke—
"Miss you, firefly" my voice heavy with finality, each word like a step away from her, from the very thing I wanted to hold on to.

I turned, my boots clicking on the hardwood floor, each echo amplifying the distance between us. But as I stepped out of the door, I stood frozen for a moment, the pit in my stomach widening.

I wanted to stay, to be there with her, to keep her safe. But the thought of staying one more night, allowing myself to become entwined in the danger of *us*, was something I couldn't risk.

Joshi's voice sliced through the quiet like a blade.

Take care of her. Keep the stress away, otherwise, she might collapse again anytime.

His words hit me with the force of a lightning strike, instantly jolting me awake.

The weight of what he said lingered in the air, thick and cold, like a warning that only now made its presence truly felt.

I knew what was waiting for me outside, if I'm not wrong he would be there this time.

I had been ignoring it. And so had he.

As I stepped out of the elevator and into the dim-lit path road, I saw him. There, just a few feet away, standing by his car like an immovable force—his presence as familiar as it was unsettling.

"Took you long enough to exit," he said, his arms crossed, his stance relaxed, but the eyes—those calculating eyes—never left me.

(🍁- Who's he guys? Any guesses?)

I scoffed, a bitter edge in my voice. "I thought you left. Didn't expect this much courtesy from you."

He didn't flinch. Instead, he shifted his weight, uncaring, as if my words didn't touch him. "I could almost have my bet that you'd at least be staying if you are late by any more minute."

"I can say you would've lost." The words slipped out, sharper than I intended. My anger was an undercurrent now, rising slowly, its presence undeniable.
