Chapter One: Welcome

When I landed on the Island, it was raining. I didn't see it as a bad thing, I had seen it as a relaxing way to start off my new job. I always loved the rain, it somehow seemed to calm me down when I was angry .  But I known that there was going to be more sun soon.

I didn't see any sign with my name on it. As I had looked for this "Owen" guy, there was no one with my name of their white boards. I had wondered if Vic had make a mistake or forgotten to tell Owen to pick me up. He seemed like a responsible man on the phone.

My heavy luggage however was going to be sent to my cabin, so that's good. It's one less trouble that I need to worry about . At least everything will be at my new home when I get there.

I walked around the "Welcome" center about three to four times. I could have sworn that Vic said that he was going to meet me right here. I guess that some people are just more  stubborn or forgetful  then others. I can only hope that he was going to send someone to pick me up.

"ANYONE HERE BETH MALCOLM!?" I had heard a loud voice though out the entire room. I bet that the first few floors of the airport must have heard him.

You have got to be kidding me. Maybe things would have worked out better if he had a sign where he was supposed to. He would not have to strain his voice like this.

Through a crowd of people I had seen the man yelling my name.  The man had a face that almost every single girl on the planet would swoon over. He had skin the color of ivory and had a oval shaped face. His blue eyes were small and his lips were full and alive. He had light brown hair that was short of the weather of the island. The features on his face had reflected his body, he had toned up and looked very healthy for a trainer. He had seen me and had walked towards me quickly as if he was late for someone in his ripped jeans and white muscle shirt.

He had put a light smile on my face as he had stopped a few feet from me " Sorry, are you Miss. Malcolm?"

"I am. " I said.

He risen his eyebrows  in complete shock " I am sorry, I thought that his kid would look more like him that's all."

Is Owen seriously going to be like that around me?  Fine then, I guess that perhaps my sass skills are needed " What do you mean by that?"

He clearly had known that I was offended by the comment so he had bitten his lip" You know the tone of skin and hair... sorry if that offended you. "

"It kinda did.  I am adopted" I said.

"Oh ...sorry" He looked down to his feet nervously.

"Your always this apologetic ? " I asked him.

He shaken his head. " No, I am just giving you a terrible first day on the job"

I had sighed. I guess that he has been out of sorts. But it must have been a lot for him to get out of his work to pick me up and take me wherever I was supposed to go. He had risen his eyebrows and had changed the topic completely.

"Now, that your here , you can get started. Vic wants to meet you before you meet the raptors. " He had taken my hand and had lead me out of the building into the grey setting. The rain had stopped, but it still had a cool breeze. I had looked around for the car that he was going to take us in.   But I had seen no car around us.

Owen had seen that I was looking around the large parking lot. He had stopped and had tilted his head in puzzlement. He was wondering why I was staring around the nearby road.  He, by now must think I am the crazy one.

"You alright Miss. Malcom ? The lab isn't too far away from here. We can walk." He had said.

Well it would have been nice if he would have told me earlier about this.  He isn't too bright for sure. I wonder how long he has been on the job at this rate. I may be sounding harsh, but I was expecting something completely different compared to what lies in front of me.
