Maryam's POV

It's 11 at night and all the helpers are gone. I'm alone in this huge apartment, but I love this hour of the day. It's been my schedule for the last two weeks - waiting for Samar to come home.

Some days I pass the time baking from Mamma's cookbook. Yesterday, I baked cinnamon rolls, and today I'm baking brownies. Samar has been quite busy since we returned from Turkey. He took over the company ,I am happy that his father finally realised his mistake and stopped messing with Samar's life.

Samar goes to his office at 9 am and usually comes home between 10-11 but Today, he's running late.

I glance at the wall clock and just then door swings open. I rush towards it. Samar stands before me, disheveled yet captivating as everyday. His messy hair frames his beautiful face and accetuait his piercing eyes. His coat slumps on his arm, along with his office beg.Two top buttons of his whitest shirt undone, revealing a hint of chest.

Samar's exhausted gaze meets mine, and I'm drawn to his rugged charm.I feel thousands of butterflies in my chest just by seeing his face.He drops his bag and coat on floor and opens his arms, inviting me for our customary homecoming hug.

I run into his arms, and he envelops me, pulling me closer into him. My feet lift off the ground as he holds me tight.

"You're baking again," he says, gently setting me back on my feet.

"How did you know?" I ask, curious.

He chuckles, his eyes crinkling. "I know because, my love, you smell like a bakery, and..." His fingers brush against my cheek. "...you have flour all over your face."

He places a soft kiss on my forehead that makes knots in my stomach.I was still in the haze of his kiss when suddenly he lifts me in his arms and walks towards the kitchen,My hand cling tightly to his neck,"How was your day,Love?" He ask as he sets me on the counter, his eyes locking onto mine.

Samar leans against the kitchen counter, trapping me between his arms. His hands grasp the counter on either sides of my hips. Our faces so close and I am lost in his eyes," I am asking something?" He smiles, knowing that I am distracted.

I clear my throat, " It was nice.Nothing special, I had lunch with faris and Anaya and then I read a book and now I am baking brownies watching the recipe from Mamma's cookbook. Thats all I did."

" What was the book about?" He asks placing my hands on his shoulders.I lock my hands behind his neck.

" It was a romance book." I say ignoring his eyes.

" Oh interesting." He sighs," What was the plot?" He asks further.

" So it was about.....umm.....Leave it.You dont have to know." I say smiling slightly.

" I have to know,Love.I wanna know everything my wife likes" His eyes sparkling flirtatiously.

" So its about a girl who has a stalker." I tease.

" Stalker." He gasp,"You like stalkers?" He blushes and I know what he wants me to say.

" Only in books." I smile mischieviously. He makes a dissapointed face that makes me laugh.

" You dont like me?" He pouts.

" No" I giggle.

Samar's forehead gently collides with mine," This is not what You said last night,Love."He whispers, his breath dancing across my skin.

I turn my face away in shyness but he holds my head firm making me meet his eyes, his fingers gently cressing my face.

The oven timer shatters the moment, jarring us apart.Samar's gaze lingers on mine, irritation flickering,"Cant that thing see we are busy?"
