Chapter Nine

The Kardashian-Jenner family's annual Christmas Eve party had always been a spectacle—a winter wonderland of glitz, glamour, and flashing lights.

The event was synonymous with extravagant decorations, star-studded guests, and over-the-top festivities. But this year, things were different.

The normally high-energy, party-driven extravaganza was replaced with something more intimate, more personal, a shift that left the family members feeling more connected than ever.

Rob stood by the open sliding doors of the living room, watching as the fake snow fell gently outside. Reverie was due to give birth to their baby boy any moment, and her round belly was an undeniable presence in the room.

Reverie was glowing in a way that only a woman about to give birth could, but there was a calmness to her—an aura of serenity—despite the imminent excitement that lay ahead.

Their children, Dream, Dasha, Divinity, Robbie, and Rue, were all running around, playfully engaged in the activities that were part of the family's new Christmas Eve tradition: an array of games and festive challenges.

"Rie, come on! You have to try this!" Dream called to Reverie, holding up a red and green ring toss game. Her energy was infectious, and despite Reverie's condition, she couldn't help but smile.

Rob smiled at the sight of his children so full of life and joy, especially Dream, who had always been the enthusiastic one. They all seemed in their element, laughing and playing, even though this wasn't the usual glamorous, photo-worthy event.

This year, they had opted for a low-key family celebration. Though there were no celebrity performances or elaborate ice sculptures, the warmth and togetherness that filled the house were undeniable.

Reverie, ever the calm and graceful presence, sat beside Rob, her hand resting gently on her belly. "I'm glad we decided to do this," she said, her voice soft but filled with contentment.

She looked around at the kids, who were engaged in a competitive game of charades, and then at Rob. "It's nice to just be together. No pressure, no chaos."

Rob nodded, taking a sip of his drink as he watched Kendall hover nearby. Kendall, ever the attentive and supportive sister-in-law, had been glued to Reverie's side all evening. She kept a close eye on her, even offering unsolicited advice—something Kendall was never shy about doing.

"I really think you should sit down," Kendall said, her voice gentle but firm, looking at Reverie with concern.

Reverie chuckled, her eyes sparkling despite her obvious discomfort. "Kendall, I've been sitting for hours. I think the baby wants to make his grand entrance soon, so I might as well keep moving until then."

Kendall didn't argue, though she clearly wasn't convinced. She reached over to rub Reverie's shoulders, a small smile tugging at her lips. "I get it. I just don't want you doing anything to make it happen faster than it already is."

Reverie chuckled again, shaking her head, and Rob placed a reassuring hand on Kendall's shoulder. "She'll be fine. Trust me. She's tougher than she looks."

As the night wore on, the kids grew more excited. Even though the celebration was more subdued than usual, they still reveled in the festive atmosphere. Dasha, the older of the two girls, had a fierce competitive streak, and Divinity, their youngest daughter, followed her every move, trying to mimic her.

Robbie, their eldest son, was quieter but always involved, his sharp eyes taking in everything that was happening around him. Rue, the baby of the family, was bundled up in the arms of a nanny, content to observe the world from a safe and warm lap.
