Jace's POV

She was deducing me. I could tell. I didn't know there were other people like me. Maybe it could be just her, I don't really know but she was beautiful. Her eyes were a sea turquoise. They had a rim of gold around them. Kind of surprising really, I've never really seen eyes that colour. I really like them, they reminded me of the beach. The sea with sand around it. She had beautiful brown tresses of hair that flowed down to her mid back. But she hides behind those glasses. Her cheekbones were evident. Her voice almost angelic. Although her brain matched mine. Maybe she had a mind palace, basically a mind palace is a place which where all of my memory and knowledge is stored.

I was nicknamed Sherlock in my old school back in London. Most liked me. Now not many like me at all. Like honestly, I was called a freak. Although the only thing I like about the school was Everton. What was her first name?

I picked up my subject notebook and jotted down her name.

....... Everton

Firstly, find out her first name.

I started to list some options.

Grace

Jenny

Olive

Lara

Emma

Emily

Sally

Portia

Taylor

.....

Still no avail. I should ask her tomorrow. Her name should match her beauty.

That's what I'm expecting. She's quite enchanting, both her looks and her mind.

There she was. At school again, just like everyone else. Except she was alone at my locker. Maybe her locker was next to mine. Great. That would be absolutely great. Wait a minute, what did it say on that locker? Freak. Seriously, pretty immature for five year-olds, let alone almost legal teenagers. I checked the piece of paper in my hands. Twisted lock? Yep that one was mine.

Matilda's POV

The sunrise around me was beautiful. My balcony always helped me think, it provided me with an amazing view of the sunset and the stars. I guess this is a perk of having rich parents. My view always changed, almost every day, almost like my thoughts. The day ahead was going to be big. A Field Trip, to an antiques museum. I was hoping to be in the same field group as Daxton, as he is my subject for now. But I guess not all wishes could be granted.

I looked at my watch to find that I was now running late. Goodness I must have been out there for ages... The clock was ticking, I needed to get to school. Luckily my bag was ready. I rushed out of the house, locking the door and sprinted to the bus stop.

The bus was quiet, no one seemed to notice my presence as usual. The view came past me as I looked out the window. I appreciate all landscapes and everything that they have to create the beautiful view. The view suddenly looked really bad and I realised that it was my school... Gross. The front of the school greeted me as I got of the yellow school bus to the school. I walked towards my locker which was located right next to a locker that had writing sprayed on it, as I looked closely it had one word in the bright yellow paint.

Freak.

I could tell that the locker was Jace Daxton's because of the way his lock was hooked on this locker. It was twisted so the lock would bust if someone tried to get into it. The devil then approached.

"Inspecting my locker Everton?"

I almost jumped at the sound of his voice alerting me from my deep thinking. He was honestly everywhere. I was starting to get sick of it. My trail of vision checked him out. He wore a flannel today, with dark blue jeans, and his curly brown hair was lazily swept back towards the middle of his head. He looked good.

Wait. What am I thinking? I'm not attracted to him? I'm not attracted to anyone. Love is a chemical defect set to inflict upon humans. I'm just being stupid. That has to be it. Eliminate the impossible.

"Everton? Earth to Everton? This is getting scary? Uh you still alive?"

I once again came to from my little 'space out' Jace still stood there. With a questioning look upon his soft brown eyes. I answered quickly to avoid any awkwardness.

"Oh nothing I just spaced out."

He nodded in understanding of my actions, his eyes still showing suspicion. I just decided to drop it.

He then opened his mouth and spoke,

"So what is your name Everton?"

I smirked and explained to him.

"Why do you need to know Jace?"

He then pouted and said,

"I just need to know."

I just walked away from him and continued on to class. Well he will find out sooner or later.

The English classroom was pretty empty, after all, it was lunch time. I was seated in the middle of the classroom, with all sound blocked out. I was in my mind palace. The thing is not many people actually know what I'm doing. I look quite absurd actually, with some fingers on each temple, with my eyes closed. My mind palace is basically my google. I search something into it and an answer comes out based on my knowledge.

A lot of my mind palace is cluttered with unnecessary information that you learn in high school. To me, it was all very irrelevant. But I have to have this in my mind palace until I graduate, or I won't pass my final exams. The case from yesterday floated in my mind. I was confused to find that I still didn't have an answer. These drug smugglers were caught, escaped in the middle of the night and all of a sudden the next day they completely vanished. After numerous checks for footprints, fingerprints and any form of trail, they concluded to nothing. I searched and searched for anyone who could be able to do something like that but I heard someone clear their throat. My mind wall, which blocked out my surroundings started to crumble down as I looked up.

It was Jace Daxton. What a surprise.

"You do realise it's probably tonic water. It contains quinine. Under a black light you can see it. They must have wanted to be caught." Jace said.

"I see. So you like doing this too huh?" I replied to him.

He winked and walked out. Just as he was about to exit he yelled, "Case Closed!"

Damn him.

Hello! Sorry this is quite the filler chapter but I haven't been writing much so I need to get back into the writing mood. Unfortunately I never get much time to write anyways. But thanks for reading!
