Zayden's POV
I sat behind the director, my eyes glued to the set where Zara and Alexander were prepping for their scene. Ethan was lounging next to me, a smirk plastered across his face that I was already tempted to wipe off.
“She’s your wife, huh?” Ethan said, nudging me with his elbow. “And look at Alex. Oh, wow, is he... yep, he’s got his hand on her waist. That’s bold. Real bold.”
I shot him a glare. “Shut up, Ethan.”
But Ethan wasn’t about to stop. He leaned closer, his voice dripping with mock concern. “You’re okay with this, right? I mean, it’s just acting. Nothing to worry about. Unless, of course, Alex gets too comfortable—oh wait, he just tightened his grip. Did you see that?”
I clenched my fists so hard my knuckles turned white. “It’s acting,” I muttered, more to myself than to him.
But then Alex did the unthinkable. He leaned in closer to Zara, his fingers resting lightly on her waist as if he had every right to touch her. Zara smiled—smiled!—as if she wasn’t breaking every unwritten rule of our so-called marriage.
I shot out of my chair. “This is not right!”
The director turned, startled. “What’s not right?”
“That!” I pointed toward the set, my voice laced with indignation. “The way he’s holding her waist—it’s all wrong. It looks… awkward.”
The director frowned. “It looks fine to me.”
“It’s not,” I insisted, crossing my arms. “As someone who understands aesthetics, I can assure you it’s all wrong.”
Ethan snorted beside me, barely containing his laughter. “Oh, yes, Mr. Fashion Designer. Please, enlighten us on waist-holding techniques.”
The director sighed. “Can we continue, Mr. Drakon?”
I grumbled but sat back down, my eyes still fixed on the set.
As the scene resumed, Alex pulled Zara closer, their faces inches apart. Ethan leaned over again, his voice a low whisper. “Wow, Zayden. He’s really going for it now. If he moves any closer, he might as well propose.”
I shot him another glare. “Do you ever shut up?”
Ethan grinned. “Nope. And neither does Alex, apparently.”
Before I could stop myself, I was on my feet again. “This is not right!”
The director threw his hands in the air. “What now, Mr. Drakon?”
I gestured wildly at the scene. “The lighting! It’s all wrong. Look at the shadows. It’s ruining the mood.”
The director pinched the bridge of his nose. “The lighting is fine.”
“It’s not,” I argued. “Trust me, I have an eye for these things.”
Ethan was practically doubled over with laughter at this point. “An eye for lighting now? What’s next? Critiquing their chemistry?”
I turned to him, my voice low and menacing. “You’re not helping.”
He smirked. “Oh, I think I’m helping plenty.”
The scene started again, and this time Alex leaned in even closer, his hand sliding further up Zara’s back. My jaw clenched so tightly I thought it might shatter.
“Zayden,” Ethan whispered, barely able to contain his amusement. “He’s touching your wife’s back. Are you seriously gonna let that slide?”
“That’s it!” I shouted, standing up for the third time. “This is not right!”
