Jinx ended up walking out of Grade 10B with a frown on her face.
Aren't friends supposed to, you know, hang around during stuff like this?, said Claggor.
"Shut up... I'll just make it worse," she whispered, rubbing her bony arms. The blue head quietly made her way to her class, too busy ruminating to glare back at the stares of her classmates as she walked to her seat at the back.
She pulled out her headphones from her bag, the whistling opening vocals of Grimes' 4ÆM covering the idle chatter. She found herself staring holes into the back of the dark-haired boy seated in front of her. She pulled the hood of her grey sleeveless hoodie over her head and got up before taking the empty seat by his side.
Benedito gave her a curious side-eye. Holding a pencil covered in deep bite marks, she scribbled a couple of words on the corner of his desk. He stared at her fiery but suspicious gaze with a bland expression as she extended her pencil towards him. He gently took hold of it while reading her crooked handwriting on the beige desk.
What do you know about Jela?

Jela's pov
Later during the day, I ended up drooling on my desk during my Commerce class. Something about staying up late overanalyzing whether I was an ungrateful child or not, paired with the monotonous sound of the teacher's voice, knocked me out cold.
I sat upright and wiped my cheek. I looked at the seats behind me and all the other students were passed out, well, except Francelle. The brown-skinned girl stared blankly at Miss Rahima as the woman paced around the front of the class, explaining the fascinating intricacies of consumer protection. I sighed and raised my hand.
"Surely after your long nap you don't expect me to answer any questions relating to the topic I've spent the last 20 minutes explaining, right, Jela?"
I blinked away the sleep from my eyes, "I just wanted to go to the restroom,"
"Hmm," the veiled woman shrugged.
I got up and shuffled my way out. This can't happen again, I thought, I really need to pay attention. As I walked along the oversized hallway, a group of boys from my class and Grade 10A approached from the opposite side. Conrau from the A class was having a dramatic argument with Hanan from my class. All the while Caïd snickered like a maniac every time Hanan repeated, "Well what do you want me to do about that?" to each of Conrau's complaints.
"Momma, our savior," cried Jaylen, arms stretched forward when he saw me.
I frowned, "What's this about?,"
They gathered around me.
"Jelly, tell this idiot to wake up before we both fail this year," said Conrau, mean-mugging the brunet by his side.
"We?" Hanan widened his eyes dramatically.
Caïd flicked his forehead, "Cut the crap, you know you slow,"
"Right, we all are," Jaylen rolled his eyes, "But that's where you come in," he shook my shoulders.
"Please, we thought you, Francelle and Ferdine would like help us out," started Conrau, "Like when you're free and during the weekend,"
"Uh..."
"Surely I get private lessons because I'm the favorite son," mused Jaylen, a cheeky smile on the red head's face.
"Jay-jay, I can't," I mumbled.
"Serves you right," Hanan stuck his tongue out at him, "Tryna get ahead of us and shit,"
