You both sat in the sand, towels spread out, with a comfortable distance from the other families.
The sun's heat wasn't enough to distract you from the fact that you still had to deal with the problem of your hickeys, which, despite your best efforts, had started to make a show on your skin. You rifled through your bag, praying you'd brought something that could save you from the upcoming family agenda.
Daisuke sat beside you, his towel slipping off your shoulder, so he reached over and adjusted it for you, his fingers brushing your skin as he did.You tried to ignore the warmth of his touch, but it was hard with the lingering effects of last night's passion still buzzing between you.
It wasn't just one or two hickeys.
No, it was a trail of them, down your neck and across your collarbone—testaments to a night you weren't entirely prepared to face today.
You thought you'd done a good job hiding the marks with makeup earlier, but as the heat of the day set in and the water splashed around you, you realized your coverage was far from waterproof.
Daisuke, noticing your frustrated attempts at trying to fix it, couldn't help but smirk. The marks were now more visible than they'd been before, and despite your best efforts, it was becoming obvious what had happened the previous night.
"I didn't plan for this,"
you muttered, pulling out a small compact mirror from your bag.Daisuke's expression softened as he noticed you trying to cover up the marks again.
"I'll help you fix it,"
he offered, his voice slightly hushed, though there was an unmistakable edge to it."I could wave down the driver dude, and he can drive us back to the room," Daisuke offered.
He knew how much you didn't want to deal with the lingering tension, and getting back to the room seemed like the perfect excuse to escape the awkward situation and clear your heads before facing the rest of the day.
Before you could respond, you suddenly heard your mom's voice, she was talking to your boyfriend's mom.
"My dear [Name] has a
birthmark like that!"
she exclaimed a little too loudly.
"It's good luck! it's on her shoulder—since you're good with stuff like that, maybe you should take a look at it!"The last part of her sentence was said with a knowing tone, as if she thought she was being sly, but it made the situation a thousand times worse.
You froze, panic shooting through you like a cold wave.
There was no way she was mentioning that now.
You could feel the heat rush to your face, and before you could compose yourself, your mom's voice rang out again, more forceful this time.
"[Name]! Come here, darling!"
She called, her words floating through the air, making your stomach drop. You jumped, startled by the suddenness of it all, and instinctively turned toward her, as if it was the only thing your body knew how to do in that moment.
Your heart was racing, and your mind was running wild, trying to figure out how to deal with this disaster.
