I pulled away from my oldest brother and walked with the boys to get their bags.
" Where's Mom?" Mike asked, looking around.
"Oh, she was running late but I think she's here now. She said you can put your things in her car and ride back with me." I said, taking Jaime's backpack as he struggled to pick it up. He shot me a wink and I giggled. Heat rose to my cheeks as I remembered my long-term crush on Jaime Preciado. It had all started when I was 12 and Jaime came over when my brothers weren't home. He was waiting for them to get here, but he heard me crying in my bedroom. My first ever boyfriend had made me do things with him that I didn't want to do, and when I made him stop, he hit me over and over. Jaime called my brothers and comforted me until they got home. He spent time with me a lot after that, and I slowly but surely fell head over heals for someone almost twice my age.
We all walked to my car in silence, it being broken when my mom and the boys reunited. My mom oohed and aahed at each of the boys, praising Jaime for finally getting rid of that "god-awful blonde streak".
I walked away from the boys and started my car, loading their things into the trunk.
"Hey Tay, you don't have to do that! Seriously, it's heavy!" Mike yelled, running over to help me. The rest of the boys jogged over, helping me load the car up. We all sat down in the car, Jaime and Vic arguing over who got the front seat and eventually, Vic gave in and allowed Jaime to have the front.
I felt my body tense up as his cologne reached my nose and I breathed in his all too familiar scent. I felt like home with him next to me.
I pulled out of my parking spot and followed my mom out, blowing through a stop sign and swerving around the tight corner, which earned a scream from Tony.
" Hey sis, can you not kill us when we just got home?" Vic said, smacking Jaime's head for laughing at me. "And don't encourage my sister, Jaime. She's crazy enough as is." Jaime smirked at me and I turned up the radio, speeding off down the freeway.
Almost two hours later, we pulled into my driveway. Mom and I helped unload the boys things and took them into the house.
All four of them lived with us now because my mom wanted them to live here while she was gone, and seeing as she was going away for the next three months to visit her parents, we switched up the rooms. We had four bedrooms, but it still wasn't enough room. Vic and I would stay in our own bedrooms, and Mike was sleeping in my mom's room. Tony was going to be sleeping in our guest room. We didn't plan on Jaime staying with us till last minute, so I said he could sleep on my pull-out futon. I was honestly nervous to be sleeping in the same room as him.
I had a lot of nightmares and night was just a terrible time for me, so I was a bit nervous as to what he would think.
Mike and Vic went to help my mom load up her car so she could get going. She kissed us all goodbye and told us she loved us, and then drove off to pick up her boyfriend, as he was going with her. I came back into the house to see Jaime awkwardly standing by his things.
"Hey Jaime, the stuff for your bed is on my bed and you can just put all your things in the closet by the couch. It's empty." He nodded his head and smiled and went upstairs, leaving me and Tony standing there.
"Sooooooo, how's Kyle?" Tony asked, making his voice high pitched.
"He's um, he's good. We haven't been seeing each other lately. Things are kind of different now, I guess." I said, giggling at Tony's voice.
"Why?! The love couple isn't doing so good?"
" I mean, I kind of have feelings for somebody else and it feels wrong, you know? But I don't want to lose him either because I know this other person isn't interested." and nobody would allow it, I added on in my head. I knew my brother's would never approve of me and Jaime being a couple. They didn't know how old Kyle was because they would think he was too old too, only Tony knew and he swore to never tell.
"You never know unless you try. If you have feelings for someone else, you might need to let go." He said.
I shook my head in agreement and grabbed a monster from the fridge, handing Tony one too.
The guys all came downstairs and stood around Tony and I.
"So what do you want to do tonight?" Mike asked, looking at us all.
"We could get wasted tonight and have a party, play truth or dare like old times!" He said, bouncing up and down.
We all nodded our heads in approval and Vic pulled out his phone, calling the guys from Of Mice, You Me at Six, All Time Low, and some other guys to come over and hangout. Once we got the okay that they were coming, Mike and I climbed into my car to go pick up some alcohol and food.
"Mike, do you need a shopping cart?" I asked.
"Yeah, that'd be great. You want some soda or something, since you don't drink?" He teased, sticking his tongue out at me.
"Or you could let me drink since I'm sixteen."
"Definitely not. I don't want my baby sister getting all boozy on me." He said, laughing to himself. I grabbed some root beer and put it in the cart, watching Mike grab every type of alcohol available. We walked to the check out line and payed for the items and sat down in the car.
"So how have you been Tay?" Mike questioned, seriousness in his tone.
"I've been doing fine actually." I said, turning up the radio to avoid that awkward conversation.
When we got back to the house, most of the guys were already there. I hugged Austin and Alan from Of Mice and spent time with the guys from All Time Low. Mike brought out the alcohol and made a warning speech to keep me away from it, to which everyone laughed.
Jack was the first to be tipsy, and he offered me peach vodka which I gladly accepted. We sat in the backyard downing the bottle until Jaime screamed "LET'S PLAY TRUTH OR DARE!"
We jumped up and ran inside, gathering in a circle and sitting down in a car. I sat next to Jack and Tony, which would hopefully spare me of any awkwardness with them. Jaime sat across from me and surprisingly, he was sober.
The bottle was first spun by Austin Carlile, and it landed on Mike.
"Mike, truth or dare?" Austin asked.
"Truth." Mike said, a cocky smile on his face.
"How many girls did you fuck on tour?" Austin said, as everyone roared with laughter.
Tony covered my ears but could still hear him say, "At least ten."
I scrunched my face up in disgust and Tony kissed my forehead as a way of apology.
The bottle was spun over and over again until it landed on me.
"Taylor, truth or dare?" Josh Franceschi asked me.
"Truth!" I said, taking a drink of my root beer.
"How many guys have you shagged?" He said, giggling in his British accent. He was clearly drunk, but my brothers weren't. They stared at me with intent eyes.
"None yet," I said, winking at Josh to which he winked back.
"And she won't either," Vic said. "Not till she's 35." This got everyone laughing as I scowled at Vic and Mike.
The questions continued on, and they mainly consisted of the guys having to make out with random girls at the party. Finally, the bottle landed on Jaime.
"Jaime, truth or dare?" Jack asked.
"Dare." He said, his eyes narrowed. I didn't understand why he was still sober and actually picked dare. I knew he didn't like when the guys made fun of him for always picking truth, but he wouldn't make out with any of the girls until Vic reminded him he had to, no matter what.
"Okay, I dare you to make out with Taylor for ten seconds." He said, giggling.
My eyes shot up and got wide. Vic opened his mouth to protest, but he was cut of by someone saying he 'had to'.
Jaime looked at me and asked "Are you okay with it?"
My heart was pounding in my chest and I felt like it was hard to breathe. I shook my head yes and he walked over to my chair and grabbed my face, placing his lips on mine. I felt fireworks in that moment as his lips moved in harmony with him. He moved his hand to my thigh and the other in my hair, while I held his arms with my hands.
Time felt like nothing, only this moment mattered to me. He probably just used it as an opportunity to get a girl to kiss him.
"Okay, ten seconds is up!" Jack yelled, but Jaime kept kissing me. I couldn't believe it, so I dropped my hands to see if he would keep going, and he did.
"OKAY Jaime, that's enough!" Mike yelled, and Jaime pulled away. I opened my eyes to see him pulling away, and I wanted to reach out for him, but couldn't.
The game continued on, but I didn't want to play. I felt like I had it all and then lost it, and it was clear that my brothers didn't approve.
Jaime sat down and shot me a sympathetic look, but I avoided his eyes.
After a couple more rounds, I decided to go to my room. I said goodnight to everyone and walked up the stairs to my room, collapsing on my bed. I let the sobs shake my body.
Not only did I jut cheat on my boyfriend, I fell for Jaime harder than ever.
And he wasn't gonna catch me.
